Psychoacoustic experiments in groove

I was reading about some psychoacoustic properties and how they affect our sense of time the other day and decided to experiment with a patch. Apparently, if a sound is soft it sounds later, and if it is loud it sounds earlier to our ears. The idea that I read about suggested that if a note is late in the mix then pulling the fader down will make it sound more natural, whereas if it is early then giving it a bit of boost will give it the same natural effect. Don't ask me why!

So in this patch there is a level sequencer that controls the position of each note in time as well as the volume. I also added cutoff and resonance to this which seems to enhance the effect. There is also a click which keeps time.

When you load the patch the effect is already running, but to hear the opposite (late notes louder, early notes softer), switch "effect" from norm to inv. Negative groove! Shocked

The other buttons do basically what they say - turn the effect on/off for timing, volume, cutoff, rez and turn the click track on/off. The all button turns the effect off altogether. I've also included another timing button for the click just for interests sake. The 4 variations were derived from clicking the "rnd" button on the level sequencer Laughing

I was also going to use the logic delay so the effect would go on the clock itself but I couldn't get it to work well with the exponential (?) scale of the knob. Can anyone help with that? It would bring the memory load down quite a bit I think...
