Note-based Sequencer... Subject description: FINALLY!!!... took me long enough! |
 |

I finally did it... almost.. My idea for some time has been to use note information as a way to select a particular step in a traditional 16-step sequence. The reason for that was because in the Nord Modular system, it's easier (I think) to modulate notes than it is Control information...
The structure isn't all that complicated, although it's not exactly finished yet, but I hope all of your added input will help.
Basically, there is a clock to dictate tempo. Then, the "Step Slct1", just a note sequencer module, is programmed to scale up on particular notes through its 16 beats.
That information is sent to a Controlled Sequencer module, "Steps". Each beat of this module goes up one value, from 1-16. What this does is allow the "Step Slct1" module sequence, from beats 1-16, the "Steps" module.
The purpose of all of that is, if you modulate the pitch/note output of "Step Slct1", you actually modulate the order or selection of beats in "Steps". For instance, if you changed the notes in "Step Slct1" to go from the highest note down, "Steps" would play backwards.
I've added some fun stuff, a randomizer, some gliders, etc... to trigger a simple drum sound.
Any ideas, thoughts, additions? Am I working too hard to do too little?
I don't think it's quite as interesting as it could be, but I think it definitely should have some "cannibalizing" potential.
