New Years Greetings and Mix Mode Question! |
 |
|
Hey Guys!
Happy New year to you all....hope you had a good festive season.
I just started really getting into my live setup now and starting to use my gear at the levels it should bebeing used at (hey, we're all lazy sometimes!).
My live rig consists of: Roland XP80, Nord Electro2, Andromeda, Yam A4000 sampler. Once I got all the technicalities sorted out, its mainly a case of trying to get your head round the logic of how to link everything up so it all works in harmony and you have the control you need.
One puzzle i came across in rehearsal the other day. The XP80 is running its sequencer in multi mode, driving the Andromeda (and a4000) in multi mode. Obviously, I want to play as many of the parts as i can and just leave the seqeuncer to do any repetitive parts or trigger samples. So I want to play 2 sounds live from he andromeda on 2 different mix channels. The problem is that I use the whole keyboard for both sounds(so cannot get round it by setting key ranges) and if i turn the "use keyboard" option for one channel off then i cannot swap sounds by pressing one button...I would have to (in theory) go into the mix channel and turn the option off for one mix channel then on for the other and vice-versa!!!! Any ideas?? On my roland, you can skip through the mix channels without affecting their status and whichever mix channel is currently selected - this is the sounds you hear when you play the keyboard.
This is all making my brain hurt!! Perhaps i am missing something obvious!

best wishes too !
so i understand you want the a6 to play out on two different midichannels at once but make it only swap patches on the one channel that is actually in the edit mode ( blinking part led) ?
don't know if that's possible , will have to look into it .
by the way in mixmode you can select the options for every channel somewhere under keyboard and midi/controlers. might try to see if you find it somewhere there.
i'll come back to it although it might take some time, maybe someone else a good idea?

Hey sunny! Nice to hear from you again.
What I am trying to do, effectively, is to play 2 different sounds live from the A6 in mix mode.
The problem is trying to switch between the sounds quickly....I can't just set key ranges because i use the whole keyboard with both sounds. I know you can do this in MIX but i needs several button presses each time: to turn off the currently selected sound and turn on the other sound - then vice-versa. I change between these 2 sounds several times in the song!
Hope this makes sense

two other possibilities, i've come up with
in mix mode, use the solo button .switch it on and then you'll only have to push the one wanted softbutton to select the patch. problem is that it always uses all voices for all patches of the mix so also for the ones that are muted.
i guess you could also keep it simple in this case, as it concerns two seperate patches over the whole keyboard, why go to the mix mode?
just remain in the program mode and chance patches by the softbuttons b.e. bank 10 voices 0-9, much quicker i suppose.
