Hi,

I want to use my G2 Engine as an effects processor for scratching. Audio comes throuh Audio In originated on a QFO turntabel (Stereo).

It first runs through high pass fiters on slot 1 and should then be processed in one of the other slots and afterwards be routed back to slot 1 where it is further processed with some standardized effects Bitcrushing, Stutter etc.

Slot 1 should stay the same all the time. All this is controlled via a Behringer FCB1010 Midi Foot Pedal.

The only Idea I had up to now to achieve this is to use Bus 1+2 as send and 3+4 as return and then switch slots on and off accordingly.

Is there a better way to do it?

Any help is very much appreciated! Thanx!!!

Regards

Marc

That's it basically ... additionally you could use the physical in- and out-puts 3 and 4 if you need more busses.

Alternatively you decide to reshuffle the processing such that you need not go back to the originating slot - you'd have to duplicate the post processing then (or the pre processing), depends a bit on how complicated the effects processing is going to get whther you'll have room for that.

Your proposal seems most modular to me, but it costs some busses - which is not a problem if you don't need 'm for anything else.

It would be interesting to see such a performance as you're making Very Happy

Hi,

yes I finally used the option to control the 2-out on/off via midi.
I think switching the slots on/off would have been better, but I could
not do that for slot 1, as this handles the final output, so I used an approach that is the same for all
slots. Ok.

Well my performance may not be of general interest, as it is very special
much determined by the controllers I use. To be clarify this here is a
detailed description of what I use and what for. The general idea is to
create unique sounds with a turntable.

Setup:

Audio In
1+2 QFO Turntable
3+4 Unused

Audio Out
1+2 Main Out connected to LBP2UBE (Electro Harmonix)
3+4 Line 6 Echo Pro 19" Delay Modeler
afterwards Motu 24 I/O->Computer

Midi Controllers
Behringer FCB1010 with UnO Firmware in Stompbox Mode
Faderfox DJ2 DJ Controller
Roland PK-5A Organ Keyboard Foot Controller
-> Motu MidiExpress XT (also used for Fatar SL-880 but this is not part of system under review)

Line 6 is controlled from NM Engine, settings stored with variations

Drawbacks:
Faderfox has Channel 16 hardwired also all controls have hardwired notes/controllers.
Crossfader on FaderFox unusable for real scratching techniques

unfortunately, there is no similar other/better controller.

All Midi routing/handling is done in FX area of slot 4
Faderfox Buttons are used to switch between variations
and to activate all of the four slots one by one. I guess
a foot controller would be better for this, but for now I
have the DJ2.

All audio is then routed to FX area of slot one.
There the standardized processing takes place, which
is controlled by by the FCB1010 Stomp boxes. The remaining
5 Pedal Buttons are used for switching between Performances.

Pedal 6 -> Controller 101: Out 3+4 send on/off
Pedal 7 -> Controller 102: reverb send on/off
Pedal 8 -> Controller 103: stutter/loop on/off
Pedal 9 -> Controller 104: distortion on/off
Pedal 10 -> Controller 105: rectifier on/off

(101... etc used because I want to use Button 1-5, but didn't
manage to get this to work with the FCB Editor, I'll swich when
everything is finished)

Expression Pedal A controls the master volume (via morph group) before
the external/reverb sends.

Expression Pedal B is set to controller 99 and routed to FX area 4
where it is transmitted to all slots morph groups for dynamic assignment
to various tasks.

I have enclosed the performance and the Sysex for the Behringer.

Regards

Marc
