Death Synth Subject description: Gritty digital sequencer/synth based on DSPerado's Death Synth. No filters, no envelopes. |

This is a rough interpretation of the Death Synth, a digital hardware synth controlled by a palm pilot.
I've never used the hardware, but there's a VST version called Sbleepo2.
Here's how (I understand) it works: Two sequencers control the pitch of two oscillators, then a third sequencer controls the interaction between the two oscillators. Those interactions are mathematical, so it's things like multiplication, logic gates, etc. Or, you can just chose to output either osc direct
Both oscillators have glide controls and there are various other things that I haven't put into this version (sync, arpeggiation of one channel etc)
I like it because a) It's very noisy, b) It doesn't sound like anything much else, c) It's fun to tweak.
This version is mapped out on the first three parameter pages - sequencers in 1&2, and various tweakable things in 3. Osc A is page a, Osc B is page c, and the interactions are between them in page b.
There are 8 variations.
Because there are no envelopes, it drones if the clock isn't running.
Hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for your kind comments! I'm chuffed.
Is there any way to scale the knob responses on the G2 keyboard?
In this patch, I have one sequencer where the only useful values are 1-8. Which makes tweaking that sequencer a rather fiddly job.
I'd like to be able to set the seq so the full travel of the knob only changed the seq value between 1 and 8. Is that possible?
I'd need it for 16 seq steps, so can't just assign morphs.
It would be easy enough to set the patch up so that 1-10 selected '1', 11-20 selected '2' etc, but that wouldn't give the meaningful visual feedback.
Any tips? _________________ http://www.musicthing.co.uk/ |
