I've been working a bit on breaking glass, soundwise. It's not really breaking glass that I'm after, as I want it to have some tonality, it should play some melody, but that's secondary.

Anyway, here is a patch I came up with. It's pretty lame though, it does have some glass like features in it I think but it's more like a mix between a zipper and a steel drum still.

Any suggestions ?

I found this, pdf on the web, not sure if its helpfull as I've only read the first few paragraphs sofar.

Taken from an old prf, not so much designed as stumbled upon, it is a descendant of my tambourine patch. Not easy to impart tonality without breaking the effect.

Thanks, sounds like glass alright, I'll see what I can make out of it.

I once made a sound with a sampler that had a glass tonality...
The recording was made with the rest of a bottle smashin session just as a secondary try... i stired with a stick thru the debree auf the smashed bottles ... the clicking and falling around each other of the glaspieces gave a very nice atmospheric loop that had acousticaly 100% glass identity ...
you allways was reminded to breaking glas by the sound..but it wasnt a percussiv or explosiv event...rather hundrereds of microglasbreaks...
Granular sampling ...stirring in glas grains... If this is from interest for you i maybe can locate the tape...

I'm always interested in hearing a little sample. But you gave me a new idea to try already - maybe I can send Ian's patch (or a couple of 'm) through Tim's delay magic.

I've tried filters sofar and the vocoder, but those kill the glass aspect, nothing but sad noise bursts remains. And then I got distracted by some mad noodle :-)

The glass aspect stays better, but Ian may be right, hard to make it tonal - it seems inherently noise ...
