New Years Eve 2016 live streaming event Subject description: signup is closed |
 |
|
The end of the year is approaching fast and we'll celebrate it with another live streaming event.
The event will be on electro-music radio on Saturday Dec 31 2016.
It will probably start at 15:00 GMT and end at 00:00 GMT but we can extend the timing
if there are enough people signing up.
Stream ops please respond if you're able to help switch and what time range you are available.
No really, it would be nice to have some more people to help with switching duties.
As always, if you are interested in performing, please copy/paste this Sign-Up template and post in this thread:
1. Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time):
2. Set Length (30 or 60 minutes):
3. Artist Name (For displaying on the poster):
4. Chat Name (if different from artist/forum name):
5. Location (City/State/Country - Optional):
6. Description (Style/Genre/Equipment, etc. - Optional):
7. Website Address:
8. Anything else you like to mention:
For reference, this clock could be useful:
First Time Streamers Please Read:
Please review the Electro Music Copyright Policy
Please note: "Preferred Start Time". We will do the best that we can to accommodate people to their requested times. However, please be flexible because this event will have European and American musicians in many different time zones. Time slots will be on a semi-"first come-first served" basis. Furthermore, please post your time in GMT. The handy clock should make it simple. However, we do use military/24 hour time. It will undoubtedly be an international event and GMT is the only way to coordinate such events.
As in the past, the chat room will serve as an invaluable communication tool for set up, streaming, and connecting to those listening....and it's just a lot of silly fun! I suggest participants get familiar with it in advance, if you aren't already.
If you want a recording of your set, it would be prudent to record your own set, rather than depend on others. Accidents and mistakes happen...especially in this format. There are many ways to record your set, either thru the stream app or record your stream from your mixer on the signal path to the computer.
Performers MUST stream at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz , stereo.
more info about broadcasting on radio.electro-music.com can be found here.
It is IMPERATIVE that everyone test their connections before we start streaming. At least 24 hours before but sooner is preferred. Sorry, but we can not guarantee that musicians will be allowed to stream if you do not test 24 hours before hand. Not only does it delay the schedule, but causes unneeded stress on performer, server operator, and audience during performance time. Join the chat room for testing and help setting up. _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

Can do some switching, also in the time block excluded for playing (see below).
1. Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time): Not silly late, not between 23:00 and 00:00 GMT (too noisy to hear myself then).
2. Set Length (30 or 60 minutes): 30 minutes
3. Artist Name (For displaying on the poster): Blue Hell

confused about the times on the schedule - are those in GMT or local time?
If those are GMT then I think 1200 means 7am for me, which is too early! _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

The times are in your local time system, provided your PC clock runs on time, you have JavaScript enabled and there are no bugs in any code along the way ... but you can check that with the clock above the schedule which should show your local time and GMT.
Greg: you're currently scheduled at 17:00 GMT. _________________ Jan

I got one of these thingies, basically a bunch of sensors on an arduino board. Also a GPS and LEDs that work with it. Plan to make something to perform with on NYE:

I screwed up the time calculation.
Our preferred start time should be 1900 (or later).
If it's too late to change, we can still do 1700. _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

Well I was talking in chat and thought up the notion of making the Circuit Playground into a capacitive sensor based controller, as up to all 8 inputs may be used as individual cap sensors. Probably can send these as MIDI or some other signal, perhapds keyboard keys might be easier.
Basically whatever I find demos for I can piece them together into a program that acts as a controller for ChucK. So right off the bat, looking at the demos I find a cap sense "organ" of sorts that plays tones based on sensing cap inputs. I can convert that into whatever form ChucK can receive, be it kbd or MIDI (both actually), depends of which is easier to implement. Maybe MIDI would be more universal.

Thanks for the kind comments on the banner guys
as for the woosh, I did try to give it some movement since we are moving from 2016 to 2017.
With 2017 being white referring to a blank page/fresh start. _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

ah, great to see you can join us Jack
but ehm, that time, assuming you actually mean 10:00 AM, that's a bit too early. We usually don't start before 15:00 although if there are a lot
of participants we might start a bit earler, at least if there are streamops available. I don't have to work myself that day since it is on a saturday
this year but I don't think I will be out of bed before 11:00 AM and then I need some more wakeup time and have some things to do first.
We might go deep into the night/early morning though, no way of telling yet.
I also saw your post on encyclotronic, which is great! and hopefully it will bring in some more participants/listeners, but the times aren't correct
there either. I could send you a higher resolution banner image btw.
Jez: depending on how many people are going to sign up there might not be any gaps but an hour is great! so for now I will adjust the schedule.
If there are a lot of participants there might be some more sets changed to 30 minutes. _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

I took the open slot on the schedule at 10:00. PST my time. So whatever that is on the schedule GMT, put me down.
Don't worry about that post, I will update it when everything is done with finalized poster and all. _________________ Jack Hertz.com | Aural Films |
