hi,
i recently stumbled over the ken stones wavemultiplier.
The uneven harmonic part looked exactly like the circuits i like.
After simulation i did it directly on pcb and it worked well.

today i have this finally plugged in.

i really like what it does, with a vca in front that gently modulates the inputsignal

the pcb i did back then was an experiment to find out if the pcb could be the frontplate at the same time, the answer is - it could

i normalized the pcb today and will attach both
i included the mirror version - be shure wich one u use before etching
since it uses tl074 it dosent matter so much on the normalized pcb, but on the other the pot would work backwards

Another one for the TODOs folder. Cool!

The one of CGS is a ripoff of Haible so don´t be shy

I don´t understand why you need a VCA in the forefront thought. It´s to get some exponential conversion?. What happens if you feed it directly without the VCA?

well, its only that without the amplitude modulation done by the vca u will get a static signal, wich is kind of boring over the time.

hm if iam not mistaken KS took it from buchla? Anyway, i just mentioned KS cos of i saw it there first.

Attached a quickshot of the module, now as i see it i had some trouble with strange noise so i had to solder this 100nF close tho the power input, and also now i realize that i forgot the stabilisation caps on the opamps, pwnd myself,
so one have to solder in the caps directly on the solderside or has to do some unholy cap-leg-bending, my apologizes

ive prepared a little soundexample of what ive played around with

the patch is a VCO (sin) modulated from a fast LFO
this signal goes then to a mixer and the VCA that drives the wavemultiplier
the VCA is slowly modulated of an other LFO
the output of the wavemultiplier goes then also to the mixer

the astetic of the soundsample is may not everyones taste, but its mine Smile

first u will hear the clean sound of the VCO,
then i switch on the reverb
then i mix in the multiplier
and go up with the pitch of the vco, increase the harmonics with the pot on the multplier
and pitch down

Great!

This circuit has a special place in my heart -- it was the first thing I ever breadboarded, along with a simple trii-square oscillator, when I first got into this stuff.

This folder design originated with Serge I believe. Ken Stone explains on his web site that he was trying to reproduce the function of the Serge wave multipliers (middle section) when he came up with this circuit... and then to his surprise discovered that his solution was almost identical to the Serge schematic.

The Haible folder is a bit of a different beast. The Buchla one produces a similar effect in a very different way.
