March Equinox 2019 live streaming event Subject description: signup is closed
here we go again,..
The event will be on electro-music radio on Saturday March 23rd 2019.
It will probably start at 15:00 GMT and end at 00:00 GMT but we can extend the timing
if there are enough people signing up.
Stream ops please respond if you're able to help switch and what time range you are available.
No really, it would be nice to have some more people to help with switching duties.
As always, if you are interested in performing, please copy/paste this Sign-Up template and post in this thread:
1. Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time):
2. Set Length (30 or 60 minutes):
3. Artist Name (For displaying on the poster):
4. Chat Name (if different from artist/forum name):
5. Location (City/State/Country - Optional):
6. Description (Style/Genre/Equipment, etc. - Optional):
7. Website Address (Optional):
8. Anything else you like to mention:
For reference, this clock could be useful:
First Time Streamers Please Read:
Please review the Electro Music Copyright Policy
Please note: "Preferred Start Time". We will do the best that we can to accommodate people to their requested times. However, please be flexible because this event will have European and American musicians in many different time zones. Time slots will be on a semi-"first come-first served" basis. Furthermore, please post your time in GMT. The handy clock should make it simple. However, we do use military/24 hour time. It will undoubtedly be an international event and GMT is the only way to coordinate such events.
As in the past, the chat room will serve as an invaluable communication tool for set up, streaming, and connecting to those listening....and it's just a lot of silly fun! I suggest participants get familiar with it in advance, if you aren't already.
If you want a recording of your set, it would be prudent to record your own set, rather than depend on others. Accidents and mistakes happen...especially in this format. There are many ways to record your set, either thru the stream app or record your stream from your mixer on the signal path to the computer.
Performers MUST stream at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz , stereo.
more info about broadcasting on radio.electro-music.com can be found here.
It is IMPERATIVE that everyone test their connections before we start streaming. At least 24 hours before but sooner is preferred. Sorry, but we can not guarantee that musicians will be allowed to stream if you do not test 24 hours before hand. Not only does it delay the schedule, but causes unneeded stress on performer, server operator, and audience during performance time. Join the chat room for testing and help setting up.

There is a brief taste of a new melody that I stumbled into, improvising during the final 2.5 minutes of my June 2018 banjo-centered solstice piece *Take Cover Part II*. I plan to work up a piece starting with that melody, on processed electric banjo, for the first 15 minutes. Depending on how that prep goes, I'll segue into either 15 minutes of processed acoustic banjo, or software no-input mixer, in which I feed outputs of my MOTU audio box back into the inputs, and process the feedback loops via Ableton Live. I have used this mixer-less approach -- no-input, no-mixer -- when teaching zero input mixer workshops at electro-music festivals, but I don't believe I have ever performed that way. You can do an awful lot, just running the feedback loop through an 8-tap EQ.

I'm curious, what is the reason for calling Dm out in particular as the saddest of all keys? Curiousity, nothing more.
It's interesting and my sister chides me when I use minor keys, she tells me to play something happy, but I love minor keys... _________________ FPGA, dsPIC and Fatman Synth Stuff

Oh, it's just that This Is Spinal Tap scene in the Youtube clip. The movie is a musical spoof, followed up years later by many of the same people doing A Mighty Wind, which is a really great spoof of the 1960s folk music scene.
When I told my son I'd be playing the piece in D minor, he immediately responded, "Oh, the saddest of all keys." We converse in Spinal Tap. _________________ When the stream is deep

My piece this weekend will be in Dm, the saddest of all keys.
I'm in minor since the elections here earlier this week .. so why not D too
Will be doing it with the tritave divided in 19 equal parts ... 2^(1/12) is almost equal to 3^(1/19). The octave is a tad sharp in the treetave (3^(12/19) ~= 2.00142) .. it does not sound too bad I think _________________ Jan

I guess my scaley parts are D minor pentatonic with a dose of passing notes, but for the sections that are arpeggiated chord changes, not sure what it is, since Dminor is the only minor chord; the others are all major:
Dminor A C G Bb F C Dminor
That's what comes of listening to jazz. Parts of those changes sound a little like Hotel California. Not really, though. _________________ When the stream is deep
