A THEREMIN CONTRIBUTION Subject description: Theremin Music |
|
|
All the music available here is really inspiring. Seems, though, there ain't a lick of theremin music on the site yet. So, I'd like to contribute a good 'ol-fashioned, foot-stompin' theremin ditty just like the ones 'ol Lev used to crank out on them summer eves, sittin' on the front porch in Petrograd just after the Russian Revolution.
This piece is ADAGIETTO, from Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5. My good friend and pianist, Jef Anderson is banging on a Kurzweil 2500 Series keyboard he got off the back of his brother Tim's pickup. and I'm pickin' on the new-fangled Etherwave Pro.
(This is my second attempt to upload, and if IT fails, I plum give up.)...
...Yup. I give up... Tried to upload the file and got the Error that said,
"tried to upload empty file," whatever that means -- I'll keep this post up temporary-like, maybe someone can tell me what I'm doin' wrong...? |

The upload failed yet again? Do you get any error messages? How big is the file? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I Got the Upload Blues |
|
|
The file is in mp3 format, 5.45 MB.
The error message says:
"GENERAL ERROR MESSAGE
Tried to upload empty file"
This is a file I tested and listened to,
so I'm in the dark as to what the
problem may be. The only thing
I can think of is that I've re-named
the file a few times, but why would
that impact anything? It plays
fine in iTunes. |

I have no idea what this is about. I just tested the various servers here and everything works just fine.
Uh.. one thing.. are you trying to upload an .m4a or something like that? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Third Time's Suppoed to Be the Charm Subject description: Theremin Music Upload |
|
|
Well, I tried a third time. Though that's supposed to be the
fabled "charm," the result was the same. For some reason
I keep getting "tried to upload an empty file" message.
Is there an alternate way to send this mp3? |

there seems to be some general problem re. uploading (large?) files, not quite clear yet what it is exactly. Hopefully better news later. _________________ Jan

Sincere and humble apologies, Kip. There was a config parameter that needed to be increased when we moved to the new server. You should be able to upload that file now.

The Little Theremin Selection That COULD (finally) Subject description: "Dallas, we have lift off." |
|
|
First of all, congratulations, Howard on the award! It's well deserved for all of the work you and everyone else are doing to maintain and enhance the site. I hope many more awards and "modes of recognition" come your way.
SECOND OF ALL, let's see if I succeed in uploading some theremin music.. I will never know until I'm finished writing...I'll add more in the editing phase...
here goes... the suspense is excruciating...
IT WORKED!
Now that this has proven possible, I hope to contribute more theremin selections that would remain exclusive to Electro-Music.com, meaning that they'll only be available here. (Adagietto, however, is on a couple of sites at this point.)
Description: |
Adagietto, from Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5: This is the first 3.5 minutes from the beautiful 11-minute 4th movement. Pianist Jef Anderson plays a Kurzweil 2500 Series keyboard, and the theremin is a Moog Etherwave Pro. |
