Hey everyone,
so today I get to play the new guy so bare with me...
I have an NL2 I'd like to add some new sounds to it
that I found on the Clavia site. I have downloaded the zipped file to my
desktop.
Question 1. Will the NL3 Sound Manager work with the NL2 or do I need some other version?
Question 2. If it will work does my computer have to have a midi port or
can I use a USB to midi cable and still transfer the files?
Lastly
Question 3. Assuming that all the above is possible, can I then store the
newly received files on my PCI card?
I know this covers a lot of ground so sorry. Thanks in advance!!
LL
PS I was waiting to see how JOhn B gets his question answered as it seems to cover some of the same ground...but I got anxious!

The NL3 Sound Manager well NOT work with the NL2. Clavia wanted the SM to work with all Clavia synths, but it never came to it. Now the NL3 is out of production this will never happen...

You'll always need a Midi port

All the sounds (called Programs in NL2 terms), once in the synth, can be saved in the memory, so also on the cards.
Maybe you can use this tool (Windows) http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/020_NordLead2/023_Miscellaneous/NordGenerator_Editor/
It accepts sysex and also Midi files (in which Clavia delivers their Programs). It's a handy thing. You'll need a Midi port for sure.

Wout,
thanks for the heads up, I have downloaded the program you suggested. Now something unrelated to the NL2, as for the midi to midi, I'm running Pro-tools 6.4, & the digi 001, which has midi in/out ports. Do you know if these would suffice for my program movement? Also if it would not work
what is my alternative as I do not have midi in/out on either my laptop or my
tower?
Thanks again!
Lowlight.

Everything which appears in the drop down menu in the tool and which can be selected. Most Midi works by USB to additional hardware to which the Midi cables are connected, like the MidiMan 2x2.
