Given it's good you'll want 2 anyway... And this one will be good.

I usually buy/build two of whatever because I like to use my modules in stereo... the modules are never exactly similar so it's easy to achieve a wide stereo image. That does not exactly apply to envelope generators..So I'll just say two envelopes because that's what I have used to.

I love the trapezoid generator in the VCS3, I think it is one of its best features. Since I have no chance of obtaining a VCS3 and since I believe in doing everything to excess (6 SN-Voices, 4 UD-1s, 4 Klees...) 4 seemed like a good number!

Cheers,
Adam-V

I'll take one please (maybe 2 - depending on finances).

Any idea when these will be ready? These are too good to wait patiently for..

If I haven't made any dumb mistakes, pretty soon. I have designed this some years ago, and made just a few additions, and the PCB layout, recently. I expect my prototype PCB in 2 weeks, and populating the board will be a quick diversification from the vocoder - so maybe these will be available in two months. Same for the vocoder (theoretically), but I still doubt that everything will go so smoothely with that big one.

Keep us all updated on how the prototype works out.

Thanks

Well, what I made the demoes with, was on veroboard. I *must* make a protototype PCB before I start ordering a production run.
Good thing is that somebody can buy this from me afterwards, who isn't into soldering ...

Jurgen, how difficult would it be to get your Trapezoid to oscillate well into the upper frequency range?

An analogue module which was an Envelope/trapezoid/vca/lfo and audio oscillator would be so, so cool! (and unique!)

I guess you'd just have to use smaller capacitors, and a switch for the normal capacitor values. Don't expect any seroius tracking, though.

The good thing about this project is that you can build it in a few hours. At least I did, today. Smile Here's the result:

To be honest, I don't like keyboards on my synthesisers anyway. Adding a keyboard, in my mind one of the synthesisers biggest mistakes! There, another flamin' controversial statement from Mr Tom! Laughing

Brilliant Jürgen, I'm really looking forward to this one.

I agree that keyboards are overrated. I've got a keyboard for my 100m, It's not even plugged in.

Cheers,

Trapezoid VCA PCBs will be available about October 2010.

(See http://www.jhaible.de/trapezoid/trapezoid.html for details about the project.)

Pricing is EUR 27.00 per board

plus a single EUR 6.00 shipping flat charge for worldwide shipping,

regardless how many boards you are ordering and where you live.

It does *not* include any customs fees or tax that you may (or may not) have

to pay in your county.

What you get is a double-sided printed circuit board with component overlay,

approx. size 160mm x 100mmm.

You have to buy the electronic components for this, and build the device,

yourself. (Check the above website regularly for updates and building hints,

bill of matrials etc.)

If you want to place an order, please send me an email to the following

adress:

jhaible -at- debitel -dot- net

and use the FOLLOWING FORM (fill in your data instead of [],

for instance: "2 Boards" instead of "[quantity] Boards")

===== Start of Email Order Form ===============

Email Subject line: Trapezoid: [quantity] boards

Email text:

I'm ordering [quantity] pieces of the Trapezoid PCB

for EUR 27.00 per board + EUR 6.00 single shipping flat charge for any

number of boards.

I'm aware that I may have to pay additional amounts of customs and tax in my

country.

I'm also aware that I'm only buying blank PCBs that may help me building an

electonic module - I'm *not* buying a diy kit, not a "project" - just pieces

of FR4 with copper traces.

I know how to build electronic circuits and I am trained in electrical safety matters.

The seller of these PCBs will not be held responsible for any damage that results

from these PCBs, directly or indirectly.

My shipping adress is

[Your Name, your street, number, city, ZIP code, country, in exactly the form

that is generally used in your country, so I just copy and paste it for shipping your package]

My paypal adress is [your paypal adress].

I===== End of Email Order Form =========

Looking forward to hear fom you Smile

JH.

No pre-order deadline. I've placed an order at the factory already, quite a bit more than I have preorders, so there is some "headroom" for those who place their order later.
