Well, I think I'll make that avaialable as a PCB some time in the future, too, if there is enough interest.

It'll be a low noise version, like the prototype I built for myself a few years ago. But no capacitor selecting - one trimpot per band instead.

Here's a sound sample: First part is a string-like sound from a synthesizer, second part is the same sound processed with the String Filter:

http://jhaible.heim.at/string_filter/jh_string_filter_benadecello_cs50.mp3

And here's an example that is not string-related, using it as a resonator, with feedback around the filter bank gradually turned up:

http://jhaible.heim.at/string_filter/jh_string_filter_resonance_ob8.mp3

More information about this on my homepage:

http://home.debitel.net/user/jhaible/jh_string_filter.html

JH.

Mmmm, four Compact-A clones, each modulated with a different output of a quadrature oscillator... (Homer Simpson drool effect)

! I had problems with my browser and hadn't heard the OB8 ringing filter mp3 until now.. That's really nice. Now I see why so many are lining up for boards. I'll guess that it would be possible to manually set the Fc of each filter, and perhaps the level as well, for those of us who are not quite interested in string synthesis? Am I asking too many questions?

If you are interested in more information regarding string instrument resonances, google for violin body modification.

Do i have to order seperately or is this order automatically processed by my jhaible abo? Mr. Green

2 for me please

P.S. will it be a huge board like on your website or can you do it on euro? Would prefer euro max (for the modular), if its a 2 floor stacked constuction it would be also fine.

That's a very good question.

My first go on the thing was on 2 Euro-Boards just for the filter bank. And then there were 9 (nine!) state variable filters for creating wood, bridge, and air resonance for Cello, Viola and Violin each.
I wonder if these extra filters should be part of the project or not.

JH.

You could make them an add-on option Wink

I would prefer the extra filters, especially if they can be bypassed. Either way, I'm still in.
