Hello to everyone here- i built a few of these a while back and like them very much-

the title, i guess, says it- this would be the first PCB i have offered, and as is always requested, any suggestions/questions are welcome. i will post up some scope-shots as they will help to illustrate the "quadrature" and "OR's" functions at work.
the PCBs will be silk-screened and solder masked and a .pdf with all pertinent info will be included. i have tried to make the design as versatile as possible- one generator per board that can be used alone or in conjunction with others-
there are pads for PCB-mount potentiometers, with the Pot bodies spaced
1" center-to-center.
i have modified a few things- but the circuit is very close to the original. the controls, ins and outs are:
attack control with CV input
decay control with CV input
gate/trig input
end-of-cycle pulse output
CV output (0-10V)
3-way mode switch (AR transient, ASR or cycle)
quadrature mode
OR or peak output with attenuator and provision for external input
LED indicator
so this is a poll to gauge interest- i won't take any $$$ until they are produced and shipping- which won't take long, as the prototype PCB already exists (see pic)
the plan is to offer price breaks on sets of 2 or more (remember it is just 1 generator per board), keep the price reasonable, and donate something to electro-music.com  these specifics will of course depend on the quantity of boards i can order.

i think it's still too early- i would like to be able to order at least 50 boards, and offer price breaks for multiples. i would say, preliminarily, that the target would be around an average of $12 a board. thats about a dollar per square inch. hopefully there is enough interest.

Does this thing work sorta like the Serge DSG (VC-AR, VC-Lag gen,VC-LP filter, VC-LFO, etc all-in-one)? Looks to me like it does.
I had a thread going on that subject a while ago, but I'm no designer, so never dared to attempt a clone.
I'd go for 3-4 boards at that price (12$).

So, for the true Buchla clone with 4 EGs would you need four boards? (or am I being dumb!?)

almost- except that the rise or fall action responds only to a gate- it doesn't decide what to do based on the input signal in the same way. i haven't ever used the serge but i assume it must decide whether the 'input' signal is rising or falling.
is this correct? and respond accordingly. the 281 is like most other envelope generators in that once the cycle is initiated, it rises to the maximum level before the other half can occur.
perhaps combined with a circuit like ken stone's 'slope detector' it could behave more like this.
@bugbrand yeah it's just one FG per board- i could only fit 2 behind a 3W frac panel-amazing that the buchla panel is just another 1.75 high ..
i definitely reccomend using them in doubles at least- you can get some really complicated things going on by staggering the cycles and delaying the triggers to the next set of generators. the quadrature mode basically slaves one generator to another so that it triggers in time you can initiate a finite chain reaction and create multi-stage envelopes that are ever changing.

| Maybe since they are nice to use in at least pairs, you could put 2 on a board. This would bring the cost down and you could replace those 2 pricey 3080's with a 13700. |

I've got some spare 3080's.  I'd be in fer 4 of them. Great to see that you're doing this.
I'll put my own multiple looping AD design on hold for the moment. This will more than likely, replace my own design idea.  |
