Tom, that's also the case in Norway! I've been giving lectures on the History of Rock at a local college, and I wanted to use Switched-on Bach as an example of early usage of modular synths outside of university labs. It ain't on there! _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. Where there are too many soldiers, there is no peace. It's shit isn't it? Amazon (y)UK sucks too. You can't get any decent electronic/ electro-acoustic experimental music here- just compilations, if you're lucky . _________________ ACHTUNG!

V-unV!
I have a CD of heaven and hell which you can have gratis (unwanted present) if you wish. I also have the first 3 switched on albums on vinyl which I havent played since I got them in a charity shop - you can also have them. Theyre sitting uncomfortably next to the John Cage section on my shelves!
ReR MegaCorp is a great site for experimental music - no downolads though, just CD orders. BoomKat is also interesting although the stock is uneven.
Drop me a Pm if you want the wendywalter stuff! Glad to pass on music to a good home.

Thanks for the kind offers. I already have most stuff on vinyl, apart from The Well Tempered Clavier (the one with the "Orfeo" Suite, and the Vespers, by Monteverdi, is (are) mindblowing!). I would like that one, but the whole point of this exercise is to cut down on my vast record stock
What I really wanted (apart from the Monteverdi tracks, on glistening digital quality), was The Clockwork Orange soundtrack (without paying that huge import price for the CD). Carlo (Seraph) very kindly gave me another one- name currently escapes me- but it was the Moog stuff that really got to me, because I guess that was when Carlos was undergoing all those emotions and hormone changes while having a sex-change. It really shows in this early music- which made my flesh crawl, as a child (Timesteps in the dark- not one to be messed with! ).
When you consider that these recordings were made with a monophonic instrument, it really puts things into perspective of just how brilliant they (still) are.
Abstraktor, I'd love to hear Heaven and Hell if you don't want it? _________________ ACHTUNG!

Heaven and Hell is a later work which uses mostly MIDI instruments. To be honest the only Carlos stuff I like is the more abstract Moog material (no pun intended!) like her soundtrack work for Kubrick. (The opening for The Shining is truly inspired). I seem to remember I liked Sonic Seasonings way back but I havent heard it for years. I actually have an old vinyl of her (his?) avant-garde classical works before the Moog years, which are good.
Know what you mean about trying to reduce the vinyl collection size. I have officially stopped buying vinyl as of 6 months ago -I have more than enough to fill the turntable for months if not years!
I'll Pm you about Heaven and Hell.
cheers!
