| Wow, this is probably one of the coolest instruments I have ever seen. But at at least $1000 per module, how could anyone ever afford to have a complete set? Your looking at over $4000 just to get it working!!! |

The 200e I think takes the prize for most expensive, quite busy at the top end of the market though. You can get real Moog Modular from moogce, modcan is pricy but very cool. The 200e all new circuitry with the ability to store patch settings. And as always, really eclectic modules with great names. Not for me though.
I think you can still buy new Serge panels, does anyone have a link? |

Serge is still available, but the wait is long and prices are high - about $3000 per panel, which is of course several modules. They have no web presence; the owner is a bit of an iconoclast that way. There's a phone number at http://www.serge-fans.com/
Personally after using the G2 I find it hard to get excited about analog modular, especially given the price; but it does look a hell of a lot cooler :') |

I could use this sentence as signature file if it wasn't for Oscar Wilde _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

As someone who uses both Serge & G2, I'd have to say the Serge sounds a good bit better as well - on everything that it does which has an equivalent in something the G2 does.
Of course there are things the G2 will do that the Serge can't & vice-versa. There are good reasons to use both, and I'm quite fond of both instruments.
The best reason to get into a real analog modular is, IMO, that it does not have a patch memory & so you cannot keep falling back on the same presets over & over again. Even if you want to recreate the same sound you will not be able to do so exactly. This forces you into creating something more or less unique each time you use it. |
