Some kind words about MOUSER |
 |
|
i have got to tell you guys about the great customer service at mouser.
here is what happened.
UPS was supposed to have my package here from mouser on the 16th.
when it didnt arrive i checked online and UPS is saying that due to bad weather in texas, they dont know when it will ship. (keep in mind, it was supposed to have shipped LAST thursday) UPS is saying that due to severe weather, they are offering no refunds, no information, and no apologies. but the weird thing is, they havent updated that info on their site for 2 or 3 days and the weather in dallas is now fine.
to make things worse, when i called UPS, they were not nice, had no defnite date of when it will ship or when it will get here. AND they said they would offer no priority in it getting here. (in other words, they wouldnt speed up the process. no saturday delivery,etc..i was floored by such a blatant "Screw you". basically they are saying, we know we are late but we dont care. and we arent even going to rush to get it to you.
i was so mad that on a total whim i decided to email mouser and let them know how much UPS was jerking me around. (keep in mind the weather is FINE in dallas...which is where my package is supposedly sitting)
Well, a few minutes ago mouser called me.
They had called UPS and got nowhere. SO THEY called FEDEX for me, to see if fedex in texas was having any trouble. NOPE.
so mouser is going to reship the order, charge my card, give me FREE fedex next day air, and then when UPS gets the package back to them from dallas (which is close to mouser) they will refund my money for the 2nd charge.
so basically, mouser just did a ton of legwork for me and threw in free fedex.
i think that is great service and i just wanted to let all of you know how well i have been treated.
i do order a couple hundred bucks worth of stuff from mouser every month but in the grand scheme of things i am a pretty small time customer so i was surprised at how much they went out of their way.
if only every company could be this helpful.
A+ for them

One time I called up Mouser to return something I'd ordered and they refunded my money no question and told me just to keep the items. Granted, it was only 10 fuses, but it was my fault, I'd ordered the wrong value, and they didn't make me mess with mailing them back. I was very impressed and will continue to give them my business. |

I haven't had to deal with service lately, but I'm amazed how accurate their shipping is. You'd think they'd occasionally send 3 resistors instead of 4, but they're consistently accurate. Wow. |

Love mouser. Hate UPS. I live on top of a hill, with the attendant long steep driveway. The morning driver drives up the hill cheerfully whenever he delivers, but the afternoon guy - NO! He just basically throws the stuff on the ground next to the mailbox, along side a city street. Have called the local UPS office many times - "yes sir, we're aware you're paying for door to door service, we'll talk to the driver". Nothing changes. I get mouser and everyone else to deliver via USPS, who happily drive up the driveway (and get tipped well during the holidays) |

1+ for "Mouser rules"... kind of:
I've ordered 2 times from them to Mexico city, first time I found out how expensive is the shipping if you order "big" items, almost half the amount I ordered($230) so they pretty much pass the safety cost to you but I guess that's for the better on both sides.
There was a little hiccup though, the order was split on two because of their system # of items limit and they charged twice on shipping, after a couple of e-mails they sorted this out and I got an apologize, a refund, and two packages 3 days later.
The second time I ordered only small stuff (learned the first lesson pretty well).
There were among other stuff, some switches labeled as on stock on my order, when I got the package the switches were missing so after another round of e-mails I found out they had not charged me for the switches that time but instead changed that part of the order as "shipping when available" or something like that... it turned out the switches where not on stock as their site said.
I got no warning from them or their system about this automatic behavior so I ended up paying another extra $30 on shipping for $25 on switches!!!, this time they didn't make any refund and suggested that is best to place orders by e-mail to their latin representative.
I'd say it would be better if they fix the online store.
So yes, Mouser rules as they have a lot of stuff on stock, good break up prices, give you support, fast e-mail communications, etc. but there are issues that need to be addressed too, not everything is fine and smooth.
In the end, being aware of things like this makes the ordering a lot easier... so yes, i'll order again from Mouse... in fact I'm building the mother of all Mouser boms as I write this lines hehee.
Tips for the out of the US guys ordering from Mouser:
Avoid big or heavy stuff unless you can't as that'll place your order out of the flat rates
Double or triple check rare items stock status, ask on e-mail if you must
Join as much boms as you can to place just one order for all your projects
Check the system limit on # of items before you place the order so you don't get any surprises
Any other tips are welcome! _________________ Freddy, riding the wave!

i once ordered some few sample knobs for one of my modular. when i opened the package one knob was missing.
i emailed mouser and they immediately sent the missing knob (2.-USD) with FedEx overnight Express (shipping cost for mouser about 60.-USD)!
this is not only kind, this is kind of mad - but i was satisfied (okay, don't talk about wasted resources for now). _________________

I was searching through my mail to find my Mouser login and saw that they bumped up my shipping to Fedex for free a couple years ago. Nice company. |

They always promote my UPS shipping from ground to 3rd day for free. Always ordering a few hundred$$ probably helps but yeh they are the best.
My mind boggles at the operation they must be running, the sheer quantity of parts they stock multiplied by the AMOUNT of each is truly insane. I would love to see how it all works. |

My experiences with them have always been excellent. And my parts always seem to get to me faster than they say they will. _________________ Nothing succeeds like excess. |

+1 for Mouser - great service, fair prices (in US, anyway).
UPS? I once had the driver leave a Mouser shipment in my trash can. No kidding; he didn't bother to drive up the driveway and plop it by the door, he just stuck it in the trash can at the curb. Left a delivery sticky note on the mailbox (which I still have) "Pkg in Trash can". Unreal. When I called to complain, they had him apologize - I got a "Sorry" note, also written on a delivery sticky note...
It's definitely driver-dependent. I had a great driver at my old house - if I wasn't home, he'd deliver my Mouser stuff to my sister's house a few blocks away so it wouldn't be sitting outside. Yes, he got rewarded at Christmas every year, too.
