Just to follow up: I screwed up my courage and re-updated my G2 to OS 1.62. I also installed version 2.16 of the Nord USB driver on my Windows XP machine.

So far, I have had *NO* problems. In particular, loding lots of patches, which would hang the G2 when I was running Nord USB driver version 2.14, appears to work just fine.

I have also confirmed that the 2.16 driver works on Windows 2000.

If someone can confirm for me that the 2.16 driver and G2 editor work on Windows 7, that would please me no end.

I tried Windows 7 RC1 some time ago, and my first test were the G2 editor and the Nord Sound Manager (for the Nord Lead 3). Both worked without problems.

Did you need to use "XP compat mode" or not?

I've just found out that Toshiba has most of the drivers for my laptop for W7, even though it's an XP-class machine. Aero won't work, but that's fine.

I've already backed up my Xp installation onto another HD, and will install W7 on a completely different drive.

Nothing to loose, but a little time.

I don't recall setting any XP compat mode to run those applications. And I tested them both in 64 and 32 bit Windows 7 RC1.

I don't know if they still work in the final version. I updated the BIOS of my motherboard and since then I can't use Windows 7, it hangs when installing Shocked

No compatibility mode required.

FYI, I finally decided to try installing the 2.16 driver. I have had no problems since then. As far as I can tell, G2 OS 1.62 + Nord 2.16 USB driver works as well as 1.40 did.

This is on Windows XP, so I suppose there may be other problems on Windows 7...but as the older driver won't work with Windows 7 at all, it may not matter.
