just a quick note on file path on command line

If I want to run any .ck on the Windows file system I have to enter it as

chuck.exe "\dir1\dir01\dir001\file.ck"

instead of

chuck.exe "c:\dir1\dir01\dir001\file.ck"

---------------------------

after reviewing the examples I like mand-o-matic.ck the most. so I guess that's algorithmic composition? I'm afraid I'm not up to date on modern music theory.

----------------------------

The example unclap.ck caused a seg fault on my system. ChucK version was 1.2.1.3.

Cheers!

In the past I tried a few things in LabVIEW which controlled midi synth in my sound card and the latency was... not so hot.

I set up an OSC interface to a ChucK program, sliders, and the latency is really good, like I am mousing a piece of hardware. ~front.vi (LV9)

And it was the manual that gave the wrong impression?

Personally I'd always "cd" into a directory but then that might not suit your style?

Basically, yes, or you call stuff like that "generative music". Depends on where you place the focus, I suppose. The nice thing about this stuff is that little of it is set in stone yet so if you feel your approach needs some new name like "calculated notes" or something like that then you can just call it that.

<file> : Force of habit?

So I found something about ChucK I enjoy; I like the mand-o-matic.ck example and I have converted scale to Bohlen–Pierce and instrument to clarinet. This should keep me occupied for awhile.

Good question; I don't know, but apparently there is a difference between the behaviour that you expected and what happens and I'd like to know where that comes from.

BTW,I started ChucKing by editing the example files as well. Back then there were no tutorials or manuals to try, we came quite far since then, yet I still think that editing example files is a great way to start out or just to have fun.
