Piano Synthesis

This is a physical model of a piano. It is based on of Alpha Forever Modular's youtube description of a KS piano. What worked is having two waveguide/KS based oscillators. One for the upper registers above F2 and one for the lower registers, a damper activated resonator (kludged). From Alpha Forever I learned that the exciter is white noise shaped by two low pass filters in series. Not sure why that is necessary but it somehow works to make both the "knock" of a hammer in the resulting sound and bring out piano like harmonic content.

The damper pedal simulates sympathetic resonance in a crude way: press the damper and the summed signal goes through some inharmonic pitch shifting and comb filtering.

It has some artifacts that I could not figure out how to tame: on the lower register, every eight note sounds like a nylon guitar string. I seem chaotic, and so I suspect it has something to do with the noise based exciter, or is maybe an artifact of sampling rate in this interconnected modules. I'd be happy if there was a fix to this.
