hey guys,

the shaper modules are great...but are there some advanced ways to make your own transfer functions? I'd like a little more control in a "waveshaper" type way, and I'd appreciate any approaches someone might offer.

The control sequencer is actually a type of lookup table. You can chain several together to get more locations.

You can use the SHPLFOA as a flexible waveshaper when you apply a 0-constant to the Dir input (effectivly stopping it) and route your signal to the phase modulation input.

You can have a look at my patch in

http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-10899.html

as an example application (I sometimes let it run here, too).

/Marcus

hey guys, thanks for your replies, and sorry for my late one. I guess what I was mainly looking for is more of an additive synth type waveshaper if that makes any sense. Something along the lines of the ones in absynth or turbosynth. I realize the g2 probably can't replicate this to a t, but I was curious if there were any ideas?

Like in audio rate wave shaping ?

if so, you can do the same thing as described by Marcus with the (most? all?) audio oscillators. When you set those to "Part"ial mode and set the frequency at it's lowest value they will run at zero Hz - which means they stand still. Now the FM or Phase inputs will act as indices in a wave table (lookup table). The shape function is then set by selecting a wave form.

thanks Jan.
Yeah, I should have specified the audio rate as opposed to control, but yes, this was what i needed to point me in the right direction. Thankyou.
