So I'm not the most schooled on the ways of electronic music, but here's my situation. I have little show coming up on April 1 and had planned to use my laptop and ReBirth (which simulates a TR-808, a TR-909, two dual-oscillator bass synths, mixer, distortion and delay effects, holds a bunch of patterns, allows stringing patterns into a song) to do some electronicky rhythm tracks for me to sing and play guitars and whatever else with. And generally, just doing more electronic stuff. But I'm also looking to go Linux for various reasons, and my laptop doesn't really the hard drive space to set up a dual boot and have a comfortable amount of room on each partition. So I need to know: is there something available for Linux that I can use similarly? Hopefully something I can learn my way around quickly?

Sorry I can't give any more information. I don't run audio on Linux, but I love Linux. I'd love to see it take off as a music platform. I'm sure it will. Let us know how you make out with it.

I appreciate the links. Thanks mosc! I'll have to do some browsing around those.

Anyone have experience with any specific apps that they'd recommend?
