Pretty
Yet again no progress was made in rehousing mine, I spent most of it in bed shivering with a bug and this laptop _________________ Stephen

some details Subject description: inside info |
 |
|
Inside details:
- fixed power supply (+/- 9V and + 5V for future mods)
- extra range switch modification on oscillators
- modulation of osc1 by osc2 modification
- sample and hold circuit
- some nice white bright leds
Future upgrades:
- i defenitely need a footswitch pedal input since i want to have both hands free to move knobs
- sequencer in top part of case. (thinking of using a PIC controller + display and rotary encoder as ui. Then i can use it to convert midi to cv as well)
Still have to fix an issue with the filter resonanse. Only seems to effect on 1/4 of the pot range.
Issues solved so far:
- osc2 was not running -> defect fet
- modulation did not work -> wrong wiring
I'm glad i had a oscilloscope to check... |

Cool! How about some lights behind the plexi?
If you're thinking along the lines of pics and sequencers you might want to take a look at the Midibox SEQ over at http://www.ucapps.de/. Combined with the AOUT_NG Module it makes a great sequencer for the SL. And it's really easy to build, way easier than the SL

The big connector is a power supply connector (+/- 9V and +5V)
I want to add a sequencer part in the top part of the case and want to
make cable connections via the outside. |

Well i was thinkint of building a sequencer with PIC processor.
(which runs on 5V)
But now i have bought the pcb's for Ray's sequencer.
And i think i want to keep this box processor-less.....
But on the other hand, i still could create a midi-vc with a pic.

(which runs on 5V) | I agree that having 5V is very useful if you have the option. Ray takes extreme care to reduce current consumption in his circuits, so that they can operate nicely on batteries, do doing a DC/DC conversion would seem like sacrilege _________________ Stephen

Plexiglas looks cool, but you have to be careful handling it.
I did some drilling experiments on a small piece of plexiglas before starting with the original cover. E.g. starting with a small drill and
use high speed.

Thats a very similar case to mine, but my SL is (going to be) patched out so I can't put something in the lid and still close it with the leads in place _________________ Stephen

I like the idea for the sequencer in the lid.
However, will it fit?? The lid looks pretty shallow. Keep in mind the depth needed to house the boards as well as the the back side of the parts. On top of that you have the length of the pot shafts and any knobs you might add.
THEN you might have to position everything so that it does not interfere witht the locations of your SL knobs when the thing is closed.
I hope I am just looking at it wrong, and you can fit it all in.
I crammed mine into a package that is a hair over 2" deep from panel face to back end, plus another 3/4" for the knobs. I might have been able to shed another 1/4" overall with wires with less insulation.
Best of luck and keep us all informed on how it goes. |

Hi,
Space is a problem, so i'll first try to position all the pot's and switches
on a piece of paper.
If the pcb's don't fit, i'll might install them in the bottom part.
I'll keep you all informed! |
