hi,
let me alow you to ask for help in finding schematics of distortion (probably mainly stompboxes) with feedback, cos my own research was rather unproductive Sad

you know that kind where the guy with the guitar plucks one string and the sound will stay (almost?) forever.

thx

This sounds not like a distortion pedal, but a sustain pedal. I have one by Electroharmonix called "Black Finger". It is essentially an envelope follower and a VCA such that as the guitar signal fades out the VCA opens up more and more. This gives a very much extended sustain time. The Black Finger doesn't distort, however, the output can be plugged into a distortion pedal to give the effect of which you write.

Look at the sidebar -- "Famous Santana Sustain". It can be just as much about technique and cleverness as circuitry.

thx both,
but i could bet i have seen "feedback" written on this distortion stomper which the guy used as he plucked the strings the last time and left the stage and the sound just didnt stopped.

meanwhile i try to make a PCB for the "Famous Santana Sustain" Laughing

a delay with feedback would work too and you could place effects in the feedback loop.

DIY versions:

Pretty easy to DIY. The magnetically keep the strings vibrating for ever

interesting stuff indeed.

My aim was to learn how they applied the feedback to the distortion (i thought i remember).
To experiment later if i could apply it to some of my non-filter-filter-circuits.

May this makes it clearer and one can point me to something related?

in any case: thx2all!

cheers, gabbagabi

This is a guitar mod, not a pedal, but might interest you.
