HUllo, i'm Jon Elbourne from Australia. I'm 64 and I have just built a keyboard that I invented (but couldn't build) when I was fifteen! It's a ten key fingerboard that operates five VCO's. I play it through an EMP100. Left hand plays pitch, right hand volume. Each key has a range from 10cycles to 20Kc's. It's not easy to play. I'm only a beginning muso, but I have recorded a short piece to demonstrate its possibilities and I will post it as an attachment. I'm developing my gizmo, I call it a 5TRAK, with my nephew in Melbourne who is a muso. I suspect I'm reinventing the wheel, but it's a lot of fun! Regards, Jon.

Hi jon

Welcome to electro-music.com

That's been quite a powerfull dream, having lasted for that long, amazing !

From what you write I think it's a very interesting idea. Sort of having five Theremins in one keyboard.

The track was somewhat less convincing to my ears, though, sorry to say so - probalye because it's "not easy to play"

But please ignore my ranting about the track, and keep us posted !

I dig it! I think in the right hands it would be a neat tool. I could see throwing those sounds through a filter and delay.

Thanks for the response. I'm a rank amateur in these matters! The sounds that come closest to my music that i have heard is the theme music for Dr. Who. I take it that these were produced in the BBC radiophonics workshop.
I think that the full potential of the 5 TRAK will be in an instinctive performance by my very talented nephew. Having sorted out various bits of equipmewnt bought on the cheap on ebay, I will be recording a session witrh him shortly. As he lives six hundred kilometers away, this is a bit of a problem! If I get something special, I'll post it. Yours in insanity, Jon.

i liked the track. listened to it at work a few times. i sensed a bit of humor too. what you've got going there has a lot of potential. i agree with Mohoyoho's comment about delay & filters. could be something cheap - even a pedal. for my tastes i'd also like to hear something done with longer envelopes in lower keys. very cool diy. hope to hear more Cool
