What next after WSG? |
 |
|
| I've nearly completed the WSG, had a great time doing it, but although I've learnt loads on the way, I still feel like a beginner. As I'm about to put in an order to Rapid for the knobs for my WSG I wanted to pad it out with the components for my next project, but I'm not entirely sure what my next project should be. The Soundlab is recommended for intermediate to advanced, a level I'm not sure I'm at, so what should I attempt next? Should I take the plunge and embark upon a Soundlab, or are there other synths on other sites that bridge that gap between the WSG level and the Soundlab level? Any recommendations? |

| I think that with Ray's excellent documentation and the proven success of his design, a soundlab would be the next thing I would recommend. |

there's a few other small things you could put together, like an atari punk console, or a small amp (something like a ruby) which will be handy whatever you decide to build next. Before the soundlab (which I've not tried yet, still working up to it) there's things like the WP20 or the ds7 clone (see sticky on this forum)....
also, if you did just want knobs, there's a shop that I haven't personally tried but looks decent enough and has much lower postage than rapid for small orders - http://www.bendables.co.uk
Good luck with whatever you choose!! Joel |

Cool, thanks for those suggestions, that amp looks handy! Thanks also for the link to Bendables!
It must be me going blind, but where is the Ds7 clone stickied on the forum? |

| Ah, this came handy. I'm in same situation, WSG pretty much finished and wasn't sure what to do next. I think I'll go for the WP-20. |

DS7 thread at the top of the "DIY Hardware and Software" section
Also, remember that uf you build something with CV and Trigger inputs, you'll soon want to build a sequencer - aim high (klee) or low (baby10) or in between!! All these projects are discussed somewhere on these forums, have a search around..... |

There is slightly more in the SL, but there is a PCB so it will probably be easier to make, plus the second VCO makes the sound possibilities much greater. _________________ Stephen

| I think I'm going to build the amp that Joel posted earlier, and then I'm going to attempt the Soundlab. I may not get it right straight away, but it'll certainly be an education! |

I did go for the SL after all. Stripboard version tho. Can't afford PCBs. It's going nicely. |
