at the end of '09, finished folding cabinet and a few more faceplates for 258, 266, and 281(waiting to be attached to pcbs). My plan for 2010 is to attach PS and distro, try to somehow manage a 259 Complex VCO, 295 Comb Filter, and hopefully a 3-space 216-style Touch Plate Controller. I started working on a PCB for the 230 Triple Envelope Detector also.

left side- two mfos ultimates, one expander, one amp/speaker, one stereo auto panner. this was my first time and i started out thinking i would do half white and half blue, but liked the blue much better and finished it out in blue. the panels are aluminum silk screened. i have never touched a silk screen before this so that is not perfect but usable.

Oh man ya'll are making me feel queasy. Too many gigs and too much recording kept me from finishing anything since about February...but I have assembled about 25-30 boards waiting to be panelled, including a couple teezers, threelers, VCS, CGS VCOs, 281's, Klee and on and on and on.

Oh wait I banana'ed some Blacet kits around April, but it doesnt really count.

Heres hoping I get some down time soon.

Everybodies stuff is looking real dynamite.

Hi all,

Here my result of one year of researching, sourcing components, learning, soldering PCB's, wiring front panels and building cabinets and custom furniture for my reincarnated studio Wink

I have been wanting to build a synthesizer for a long time and in November 2008 I finally decided to start this project.
It took 2 months of researching and sourcing components before I could start. As you can see their is still some space left in the top cabinet...
I'm really happy with how everything turned out. Building your own musical instrument is really cool Smile

I'm already planning a second modular which will be a Serge/Buchla look-alike.

I just got my first DIY module working. It's a 4017 based sequencer, basically a stripped down version of the one that Fonik posted awhile ago. I'm really happy right now. I'm glad it's playing nicely with the garage sale modular I put it in.

PS - should we start a 2010 builds thread?

I didn't build the panel next to the sequencer. A coworker found a modular being sold at a church charity sale for $2, and he sold it to me for $5. The oscillator in the picture is one that was already installed in the modulator. I think it might've been silk screened, the lettering doesn't feel like rub on letters.

I'll take some photos of the $2 modular today and describe some of the modules to see if any synth-slueths can help figure out who designed it. I'll start a seperate thread though so it won't be clogging up this one.

Not finished yet, actually just starting. Here's a page with a bunch of pictures for the portable synth I am building. Started in 2009, but majority of work so far has been 2010.

the frame looks awesome (as the modules do!). did you build it yourself? nice work.
