Functionaly, this would be simple: Input gate (start/stop) or even start/stop/continue), and input clock. Output send to a MIDI channel.

I think this would be VERY useful for:
1.) Algoryhtmic studies. Control the tempo using algorythms, both internal patches & external gear.

2.) Since clavia is pushing the "G2 is also a wonderful controller" motif, then having start/stop as a module falls directly in line with this.

3.) Syncing MIDI to audio-ins. Or to your playing tempo.

I'd suggest it'd only be effective if the "Master Out Clock" was disabled.

Not an entirely bad idea, but..

First of all, MIDI clock is not sent on a MIDI channel.

Also, this would be no help for syncing MIDI clock to audio, because audio does not run at 24PPQN - you'd need something to derive MIDI clock from the audio as well (a tempo extracter).

However, the sentiment is nice: I'd like to see the master clock have some of these facitities, especially a start/stop input.

Ok, I'll agree with the MIDI channel part...but the point of the modular is to use modules together...not have each module be so specific it's only good for 1 thing!

That would be great. My Repeater has input synch and tap tempo that can be sent thru to other devices in the chain. If I didn't need the G2's MIDI utilities to control the Repeater, I would probably keep the Repeater first in the chain for that reason. Even if Clavia won't spring for the input sych, the modules you spoke of and definitely a TAP TEMPO are much needed.
