I came to this website looking for circuit ideas for the PT2399 delay chip and I have serendipitously discovered ChucK, which is up and running on my Ubuntu Linux after installing the default apt builds for ChucK and jackd. ChucK seems a very interesting software which can be incrementally learned and I will take a deeper look at it.

My background in EM began with a high school project in the ‘70’s to build a modular according to the Electronotes schematics. This synth had 3 VCOs, 2 VCAs, three envelope generators, 4-pole LP, 4-pole HP and state variable filter, noise, sample and hold, and a ring modulator. The controller was a five octave keyboard with no velocity or after-touch. This synth had some tracking and drift issues and was eventually disassembled.

I am least challenged by the guitar and I have a collection of various guitars, amps and effects and was looking at ideas for using several PT2399s as a tapeless Roland Space Echo spin (since the PT2399 is a variable sample rate delay). Several years ago I went through a vacuum tube construction phase and wound up with a switchable 12W or 24W Marshall Plexi style rack mount amp, a Fender 140W “Frankenstein” amp (rare Fender 140 model) and an Ampeg Gemini II reworked with polypropylene caps. Both the Ampeg and the Fender will elicit police knocks if turned up above 4.

I have a small to medium sized electronics lab and am outfitted for toner transfer PCBs. I use the freeware Eagle Layout and have found it advantageous to use a mixture of through-hole and SMT to fit everything onto the 4 x 3 boards. The parts stockpile runs the full range from tube technology using fiberglass sheet and eyelets, regular through-hole analog and a growing SMT pile. I am currently trying to remanufacture the classic Urei 545 parametric equalizer and I have a few spins on that which are not quite presently working :)

Hey fretless, welcome. I'm into ChucK, guitars (a little) and music electronics also. Check out our ChucK and Strings and Things forums for some good posts.

Les
