welcome trancekid

Certainly not on Mars Very Happy

What do you want to do with your synth?
What is your budget?
Do you own a good computer? (if budget is the reason...)
You'll hate it when the sound card starts to crackle!!!

Is there a difference between a NordLead and its soft clones (Discovery and Synth1)? Yes there is!
Are these bad?
I don't think so, but I like the Lead better.

Wout

There are many advantages for both options. Depends on what you're looking for:

Hardware synth is easier to act on the sound in a live environment; if you take the example of the nord lead hardware synth, it is renowned for its easy interface with all the modulators and controllers. Taking its counterpart software synth (I think 'synth1' is one of the VSTi versions if I'm not wrong), you might struggle more with it.

Other than that, a soft synth allows you to load/save more easily patches in the software version.

Just a personal feeling.

well there's not definitely comparison between a soft synth and the nord lead, i have used soft synths for many years and even do there are many types of soft synths out there none of them compare with the nord, there's a clear difference in the quality of the sound and the ability to tweak the sounds without signal delays or bugs some software have and the cutting sound it provides in the mix...simply love my nord.
