Hi LektroiD,
I don't know about equivalent FETs, but Banzai has the 2n5461 p-channel FET here:
http://www.banzaimusic.com/2N5461.html
I hope it helps
cheers

€0.24 for the transistor, €7.95 for shipping
I have to say projects that use rare parts are always problematic. I wish I'd noticed this sooner... Is it essential that is must be that exact transistor? _________________ LektroiD |

i took a look at my conversation with scott stites and thomas henry from the beginning of this project, and if i got it correct any P-Channle JFET should do. you could use a socket to be on the safe side.
thomas' goal was to have curcuits that don't use rare parts. and i know scott used a NTE part.
BTW if the transistor is only 0,24 it is not a rare part, i would guess. you get it from reichelt.de, and they are not known for stocking rare parts... maybe it is just that P-channel is not that common as N-channel in general.
someone over at muffs is going to try different p-channel jfet's, so we will know more soon. _________________

I know this is a ridiculous question, but on the silkscreen the presets are shown to be a particular orientation. Is this necessary? I ask as the 25K ones I have are 1-turn and the dial is facing one way. I know I can also use 50K, I don't have enough spare...
I'm pretty certain of the answer here, but just wanted confirmation, just in case there's some magic ogre lurking in the wrong orientation... _________________ LektroiD |

Probably a newbie question, but which 1/8" jack sockets fit the front panel PCB?
Also, that riser you have on the LED, what part is that?
Thanks! |

the sockets are available from thonk in europe, or from erthenvar in northern america.
i got these LED raisers from a local dealer. do you need a mouser part#? would have to search that myself. _________________

The sockets got here fast. I'll go look for the LED raiser myself. |

Hi fonik, do you have any PCBs for this left? I'd love a circuit PCB and a eurorack PCB, maybe even 2 of each if there's enough!
Or maybe someone has a set spare that they'd be willing to part with?
Fingers crossed....

Ok, I apologize for my previous post.
I just read on the previous page that D2 is not needed.

i found it to be redundant, however, IF you experience double triggers you could mount it piggypack in parallel to R44. _________________

Well, except that I found in my own particular build, without D2, the trigger was firing on the falling edge of the square out as well as the rising edge.
I put it down to component / build variation. It shouldn't be difficult to do the build without D2, and then add it if needed. If you want better detail, PM me and I can send a picture of how I did the mod.
Edit: Matthias beat me to it |

currently no circuit PCBs left, however, i re-ordered a very few spares to have complete sets again (still have some front panels and PCBs).
as soon as they arrived i will check my lists and see what is available for purchase...
the thing is, i don't run an online store and i don"t have stock. i just produce based on interest gathered the forum's threads started for that purpose. _________________

Alright, finally got around to building this.
Some questions arise:
- What is the purpose of the ferrite bead, since it can be substituted with a cable?
- What is special about the SP3T switch, compared to a SPST or SPDT? They seem to be harder to find, for one.
- I have a hard time tracking down a 1uF disc capacitor. Will a 1uF monolithic ceramic capacitor do? |

ferrites filter noise. however, i build with 10R resistors first to have some short protection in case something is wrong with my build. most of the time i jut leave them in.

different manufacturers refer to the these toggle switches differently.
what you need is a single pole ON-ON-ON. and you are right, they are not that easy to get, i buy them from small bear. they have good prices that justify the postage:
smallbear SKU 0221C1

the BOM asks for a 1uF electrolytic (C12, polarized). or did you mean another cap? _________________

I must have made that 1uF ceramic disc up in my mind, disregard the question. |
