Next month I'm going to England to work for three weeks. The price on most musical equipment being so much lower there, I want to get a couple of mcrophones, probably an AKG C1000, to make a stereo pair with the one I already have, BUT I also plan to get a decent Studio vocal mike. I already have a few SM 58s and a very nice SM86 which even does a good job in the studio, but I want something more "old-timey" and dark, seeing as I have an extremely loud and "presence-heavy" singing voice, especially when I let rip. My budget is £200 for the vocal mike, give or take. Any thoughts? Question

The first thing you do is get your ass over to my place and then borrow my Kel Audio HM-1 mic. technically, this is an MDC.. which is probably a cool choice for your use anyway. You must try that one first.. then we can discuss what you think you need.

actually the one seraph suggests is probably more what you are looking for..[i assume that is the tube model, seraph]..

i tested it out..it has that darker, wooly sound..vintage sounding i guess...

i found it a tad too dark for my tastes tho
