This is yet another entry level audio interface meant for mobile recording tasks. In this case the features are making sense and this seems like an absolutely decent product.

Blurb:

Quote:
Imagine a slim, lightweight interface with the fidelity you’ve come to expect from Sonic Studio, and the versatility needed to address the demands of your diverse business…

The Model 302

The Model 302 provides not only an intimate connection between Sonic Studio’s OS X applications for improved fidelity and transparency, but also acts as a best of breed interface for all of your Core Audio production needs.

Full Flexibility
Patching flexibility in both software and hardware provides comprehensive control of signal flow plus the ability to loop through external analog and digital gear.

Fantastic Fidelity
Extended precision signal pathways insure superior sonics for all your work, in keeping with Sonic Studio’s heritage.

Low Latency
Low latency monitoring and processing makes for easy location recordings and simple live gigs.

Clean Conversion
High quality conversion creates colorless capture of analog sources and transparent playback of digital material.

Consistent Clock
Low jitter clock circuitry provides pinpoint imaging, solid low end and means the Model 300 makes a high quality Clock Master for the rest of your studio.

Pristine Preamps
Ultraclean mic preamps, with fully differential servo input circuitry or optional Jensen transformers, preserves the nuances of the performance.

Deep DSP
Dual embedded DSP on–board allows the host CPU to get on with other tasks. The embedded functionality provides all sorts of heavy lifting including;

• Multichannel Recorder
• 80 bit Mixer
• Patchbay/Router with mult'ing capability
• Plug–in host with extended precision processing, automatic phase compensation & mult'ing

Why buy a hardware accelerator when you can have an entire production environment in your backback? Enclosed Processing Modules include;

• Encode/Decode Mid/Side Processor
• 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5 & 6x6 Crosspoint Mix Matrixes
• 1 & 2 Channel Dynamics Processors
• 1 & 2 Channel, 6 & 12 Band Fully Parameteric EQs
• 1 & 2 Channel Dynamics Limiters
• 1 & 2 Channel EQ + Dynamics Processors with side chain
• 2 Input Summing Node
• 2 Input Difference Node
• 2 Input Sum & Difference Node
• 2 Input Multiplier
• 1 & 2 Channel Delays
• Multitap Delays
• 1st Order Allpass Filter
• Allpass + Delay
• Variable Soft & Hard Limiters
• Slew Rate Limiters
• Distortion Generators
• 2 into 1 to 16 into 8 Linear & Tapered Crossfader/Switches
• Oscillators & LFOs
• Noise Generators
• Scale & Offset Transform
• Multimode Filter
• Pitch Shifter

These DSP building blocks support the construction of complex custom signal paths, such as M/S compressors, de-essers and frequency–dependent phase shifters. Also, the embedded DSP significantly reduces the load on the host computer while providing exceptional fidelity, low latency and powerful processing.

Surprising Portability

Never be chained to your desk, since the Model 302 can be bus, battery or mains powered. Plus, you can configure it's patching and operation from your host computer, then unplug and go! The Model 302 retains its setting without an external connection.

Additional Features

• complete any–to–any routing
• stereo send/return
• 4 simultaneous inputs, 6 simultaneous outputs

More Resources

An informational PDF highlighting the Model 302’s capabilities and how it can help you in your daily production is available. Learn more. This file requires the current version of Adobe Reader.

The Model 302 is available worldwide through authorized Sonic Studio resellers.

Coming soon…The Model 302 is also the first in a series of FireWire–attached PCM I/O hardware from Sonic Studio. The Model 303, 304 and 305 will provide 8 channels of I/O plus additional DSP resources and analog I/O.

This product seems to have all the nice stuff I found missing in the Behringer FCA-202. The 302 is probably a tad more expensive than the FCA-202. Cool

I'm curious about the sound quality of the built-in plugins and whether 3rd party plugins can be installed.
