Available with Macintosh/Windows support for stand-alone and plug-in operation, Korg's Legacy Collection features software synthesizer versions of the popular MS-20, Polysix, and WAVESTATION synthesizers and more

January 18, 2004
Korg has launched the Legacy Collection, a virtual instrument/effects pack that offers software synthesizer versions of its popular MS-20 and Polysix analog synthesizers, the WAVESTATION advanced vector synthesizer, a slew of high-quality effects, along with a special-edition MS-20 Controller. The collection also premieres a unique "cell" concept, which combines synths and effects for powerful new sounds.
Korg's newly developed CMT (Component Modeling Technology) models the characteristics of the electronic circuits themselves (transistors, condensers, resistors, etc.), allowing the Legacy Collection to reproduce the complex sound.
MS-20
The dual-oscillator, monophonic MS-20
(first released in 1978) is renowned for its thick sound, aggressive analog filters, and unlimited, creative patching potential. The MS-20 software synth adds modern advantages such as 32-note polyphony, up to 16-voice unison, advanced modulation settings, and MIDI clock synchronization.
SPECIAL MS-20 CONTROLLER:
The Legacy Collection includes a commemorative, fully-functional USB-MIDI controller (MS-20iC) for use with the MS-20 soft synth. It's a 3/4-scale reproduction of the MS-20 that includes a velocity sensitive keyboard and signal-patching capability.
Polysix
The Polysix six-voice analog synthesizer was popular for its full-sounding voice structure, chorus/phase/ensemble effects, chord memory, and arpeggiator. In addition to faithfully replicating the sound of the original, the Polysix software synthesizer also adds the same modern enhancements as the software-based MS-20.

prior to M1
looking it up now _________________ Spiral Recordings |

Korg uses some terminology which is a little different from the Roland standard to which many are accustomed. The basic single sound known as a tone on Roland machines is called a voice or a wave on the Wavestation. 1,2 or 4 Wavestation voices unite to form a patch, which, combined with parameters to control how each patch is played, such as key and velocity zones, makes up a part. Then up to 8 parts can be used to make a Wavestation performance, which is analogous to what we know as a patch on a Roland machine.
anyway, those vst's with that faux MS-20 will be fun
i love the mono/poly sound and poly6 is nice too _________________ Spiral Recordings |

OK? So this means the wavestation was able to play layered sounds.. ?? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

elektro70 what are you talking about
I owned a Wavestation A/D and later on a Wavestation SR:
maybe I did not spend enough time with both of them but I wasn't much impressed and I sold them.
I miss much more a Korg M3R that I had even before those:
but frankly today's virtual synths are way more powerful _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

The Wavestation was developed by Dave Smith while he worked at Korg. It was based on ideas he started on the Sequential Circuits Prophet VS. Those ideas appear again in his Evolver synths.

The Korg Legacy Collection!!!!
I love it! FANTASTIC! And I haven´t even touched that Wavestation yet.
That MS 20 is awesome!
Now... will we get the PS series too? With a similar USB controller???? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I have been drooling over this since I read about it in SOS |

Oh, how I want this collection!
It's the only thing that could get me to retire my non-virtual MS10 monosynth. If the controller is as responsive as the real thing... well... sorry old friend, but there's only so much room on the keyboard rack!

Well.. yes... this product is fantastic.. but the controller does not quite play as the real thing. I am not sure this is a big problem or not. the reduced size means that if you are used to using the real thing you feel a bit lost. Anyway, this one is recommended. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
