Open Mic Laptop Night
hosted by Mikronesia

Cafe Izmir
640 South 9th Street (btw South and Bainbridge)
7 pm - free all ages coffee house.

current. the last Sunday of each month. an open forum for laptop and electronic musicians to get together and share music and performances in this nice setting. its run like an open mic night at a coffee house. show up at 7 pm with your laptop (and controller) and you can play some of your work for 5-10 mins during the night. then at the end of the night we're going to have an open jam with everyone together. although the focus of the night is laptop music, any portable electronic intrument is fine, esp. for the end of the night jam session.

The second OpenSource series will be held at Cafe Izmir again. Sunday March 28 @ 7PM. Same format as last time. Hopefully, by word of mouth, some more people will come out. But even if they don't, last time, I think we had a good turnout.

Yes, Travis and I are planning to go to these whenever possible. We played there last time and it was loads of fun. The place has a lot of smokers, this is a big downside. I love electro-music more than I hate smoke. Mike's always looking for bigger and better locations.

Well, you can set up a laptop on a very small table next to the mixer. I'd say if you had a 6 foot cable you'd be in good shape.

BTW, Mike, Welcome!!! I'm very happy you joined the forum and hope you participate and contribute. For those that don't know Mike, he's in an electronic music band with Gerg, EGW. I'm not sure which one though - Holosphere? He and I even jammed once at EGW's house about a year ago.
