OT: Customizing Win2k keyboard layouts? Subject description: Needed for work |
 |
|
Apologies in advance for the off topic post. I promise this is not typical behavior for me!
I'm wondering if anyone here knows anything about customizing keyboard layouts for Windows 2000. I've been using a custom mirror image Dvorak layout for several years, which someone hacked up for me a long time ago (and whose e-mail I have since forgotten). I've been using this layout without any trouble on my work PC, but they're about to issue me a brand-new laptop and I'm worried that the DLL will not work on the new machine. (I tried to set up the DLL once upon a time on a different laptop at work, but I couldn't get Windows to recognize it.)
The current version is at http://www.dewdrop-world.net/dvwinnt.zip in case anyone wants to play around with it.
I'm on vacation for couple more weeks so I won't have to deal with it for real until early March, just wanted to do some research in advance and make sure I'm prepared. Any advice, or other web resources I should check out?
Thanks!

You could try one of the following:
*Microsoft's keyboard layout editor http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/msklc.mspx
* make a rig out of dowling, mdf and springs which mapped the keys physically to your preferred setup
Reckon I prefer the first option, tho. _________________ -- Say "&Eth;onne hit wæs hrenig weðer" |

Wow. In all of the searches I ran previously, I never found that one. Should do the trick and vastly preferable to trying to hack it up in a hex editor.
Thanks!!!
