It does work with AC transformers as long as the output connections are in phase. Never tried DC, though.

maybe some extras would have to be made. I can see two caps on doepfer's kit.

would be nice not messing arround with 220v.

Ruben I haven't read your other post, but I'm getting a PSU ready you should check my post "The Official..." I got a Power one from mouser 40 bucks. Lots of people say good things about them. They're good quality, professional and come in different amps. I got a 1amp +-12V I'm told it should run up to about ten modules. I edited my post to show how it gets hooked up. They also pop up on ebay I got a better one for 9.99 recently. So you can get them fairly inexpensively if thats an issue.

Yes, provided that the power supplies do not have a (mains side) safety ground connection that is connected to the (low voltage side) - or + ouput.

So you're safe when the supplies have no safete ground connection. When there is a safety ground you should measure if the safety ground is connected to either the + or - output of the supply, when this is not the case, it's OK as well.

When such a connection is present it would result in a short circuit, but not on the mains side but on the output side. This might damage the power supplies but this is not very likely. Stop the experiment when things start to smell funny or run hot.

No further circuitery is needed.

There is one possibly problematic aspect on this solution. Not all circuits do like it very much when only one of the supplies is present and the other is not - a situation that could exist when one power supply is plugged in while the other is not. This situation might result in massive audio clicks as well, which could be unpleasant for ears and or speakers. So you might want to make a solution which prevents this situation (with a switched dual outlet thingy or something, you wouldn't have to mess with 230 V that way). Damage to the circuit connected to the power supplies is not very likely though.

Following Wild Zebra's advice might be more elegant Very Happy

I wouldn't recommend hooking up two positive supplies to get a bipolar supply. Without getting into a lot of details, you'll probably get noise problems and worse. Get a real bipolar supply.

If regulated ... hmm ... yes, didn't even think about that possibility Laughing

I new there must be other reasons why you shouldn't do it. Wink
