Seems to me there's a bug in the Drum synthesizer module at high load. I don't have a voice expansion on my NM1 Key and when I'm close to the CPU limit my Drum module will trigger a slightly different sound about 10% of the time. Either the tuning is a bit wrong or there's a slight quantization noise. Removing some other module (lowering the CPU load about 1%) will make everything right again.

Is this a known bug? I couldn't find it in the archive.

Could be ... if I remember correctly there are some bugs like this in the NM .. the G2 has some as well ... under certain conditions signals can go where they shouldn't, like running from unconnected modules to the output, stuff like that.

It's pretty rare to run into these, rebuilding the patch from scratch might help as the order of putting modules into the patch has an influence on how the patch is built internally.

Edit : I never heared of this specific manifestation though.

On my Modular it seems to be reproducable and not dependant on ordering and stuff like that.

I tried again using one drum module connected to an output in the poly voice area and triggered by keyboard gate.

To increase the load I placed 10 delay lines and one LFO, this gave me a total of a bit over 95%. Seems like whenever I get above 95% the problem occurs.

As I said, my Modular is unexpanded.

Could it be that the delay lines are the actual problem ?

Are you triggering the module by the keyboard or by a LFO?
I noticed a different sound connected to the Voices: each 7th note when the Voice was 7...

I trigger by midi. I also noticed the interval between malfunctioning notes seems to correlate with the available voices number.
