sequencer help please

hi there!
i'm trying to build a sequencer using on of the 8 blinking leds from velleman. I think this velleman kit might be cool 'cause it have a lot(i don't know how many) pseudo random seq's.

so...i got it sequencening the leds(no big deal i know) and now i'm tring to connect each out put to the control inputs of the cd4066 and noting really happens.
i measured the 4066 switch in/out puts and looks like thers some continuity between the pins...bad IC? or it's me?
i saw some seq. circuits around there and they all use diodes...is this what i'm missing?...

i don't want it to gate, i want it to trigger, any ideia on how to turn this thing in to a sequencer?

ps: this is not for a synth, it's for an instalation that i'm working on and i want to trigger tv remot controls so they will be switching channels on loop...

I'll try to guess up some things.

I'm not sure if this will solve your problem, but maybe when you make the sequencer run really slow things will get more clear. When it won't go slow enough you could try to put something like 10 uF in parallel to C3. You are saying you want trigger like signals but probably the remote control switches must be seen to be on for a while before they will do something.

Also the CD4066 switches can not switch any signal level, the level needs to have some relation to the switch's power supply. Did you cennct the grounds of your circuit to the ground of the remote control (or something similar) ?

the seq runs sloe enough

i did not connect remot ground to the seq ground, it's something that i'll have to try.
is there any better Ic to work with instead of the 4066?
