I've been using Rejoice or VMIDIJoy on windows to convert a joystick to the Mackie Control Protocol, which many DAWs support (I use Ableton Live). But wanted to add some more odd hardware, so decided to throw this into Pd, allowing me to run 1 program in the background to do all my hardware interfacing while the DAW runs in the foreground.

The joystick I use is a game pad controller type, with 2 joysticks, 1 "Hat" (4-way pad), and 10 buttons. I've mapped the triangle, square, and circle to play, stop, and record, the Hat to the cursors, other buttons to REW, FFW, Ret to Zero, Undo (X), and Redo. See patch for more details.

I use this on windows, untested on Linux or MAC as well.

I would really like to use your patch as a starting point for some experiments with MIDI, game controllers, and other HIDs. However, I get a 404 not found when I try to download. Can you post it again, or email it to me, or upload it somewhere else? It would be much appreciated.

welcome Nomic! I missed your first post but I just noticed these.

fyi- we lost a lot of attachments (a LOT of them) in a server crash last month. Hopefully jk can repost, it is extremely helpful to call out missing attachments the way you have, thanks!
