this is beautiful. i sense your music getting more ordered and directional. you should listen to Prefuse 73. doesn't sound like you at all, but has the bright, arresting quality of your sonic experiments, integrated into detroit hip-hop beats. i love your sound a lot. as you are so young, it's impossible to tell where your music is going to go next, what sounds you will be seduced by, but i can't wait to hear. you are very talented. go learn everything. EVERYTHING. _________________ Astroid Power-Up!: "googleplex" available at:

Wouaw, hum, I don't know what to say except thank you very much for your comments
As you say I tried to be a little more structured on my way of thinking my music, and I wanted to make a piece more "usual", I mean, a thing when you are in your bed, it's night, you close your eyes and you think about your day, the work you have done etc etc...
It's like a memory. |

Nice piece... I like this one. It does have a memory-like quality to it. That is, it doesn't seem to tell a story, or try to take you somewhere, it is more a reflection, or a series of reflections. I like the ending...
I agree with Asteriod...

Oh no.... Sorry astroid. Everybody is doing beats.
I can hear he is a free spirit. Very associative and free music. |
just suggesting things to listen to which i have been affected by.
prefuse is kind of a free spirit, too. his music has that very playful, bright quality, with lots of abrupt changes.
there's nothing wrong with trying to make your art understandable to more people. to my ear, this kid has the wild free thing down, you never know where his stuff's gonna go. that's amazing, and something to be cherished and worked on. something he could work on, and is, is structuring his stuff so that it makes a greater impact. in the space of one piece, he's started to improve in this direction, too. _________________ Astroid Power-Up!: "googleplex" available at:

Well... yes and no.
Yes, iff it leads to doing to mutch concessions.
No, iff you try to want to express yourself better.
It worries me that forficule wants to make his music more "usual".
It is that "originalty" that I like is his work.
BTW I listened to some music of Profuse (just to know what youre talking about )
That is not the kind of "beats" I metioned. I think of this as a "drumpart". _________________ www.jzwart.eu; https://soundcloud.com/johan-zwart; https://www.facebook.com/JohanZwart.artistpage |

i agree, i agree, who knows what is going through forficule's head (other than some wicked sounds ), i don't hear originality as much as real raw joy of exploration, glad you checked out prefuse-his stuff is some of the only big new electronic music which really has a spark of originality IMHO. _________________ Astroid Power-Up!: "googleplex" available at:

usually people think to much.
Usual is what "they" expect.
Please express "yourself" and not the "usual". |
Sorry, It's not what I wanted to say. When I said that I wanted to make a piece more usual, in my thoughts it doesn't mean that I cut my ideas to be more usual or something like that.
No, I wanted to make a piece more usual in the way of your life during a day when you work, for example, but the usual is a bit different for everyone, a sort of summary of this day, but I don't want to please people with a music more simple, because I think it's not the composer's job to understand the people but it is the opposite.
So, I hope you have a clear understanding of this now . |

well, there it is.
as far as the composer's job, i think my job as a composer might be to make my ideas a bit more simple at this point. at one point my job was to collect as many ideas as possible. at another point my job was to learn as many styles/techniques as possible. Now, having culled that information together, and having a pretty good grasp of what my ideal music might sound like, i would like to make it in a way which is easier to understand. i try to do all those jobs at once now, collecting ideas/techniques, and trying them out to hear what can be understood/what doesn't come across very clearly.
clarity of ideas, even if the required result is a brutal anti-logical cacophony which peels the coating from the eye, is always a virtue. _________________ Astroid Power-Up!: "googleplex" available at:

For me the composer's job is just to make music with his ideas, it's a bit simple but, when you say " my job is ..." there are no obligations for me and if i study techniques/styles it's because I like that! I think the role of a composer is more simple that you think. |
