G2X Pitch Stick Weirdness |
 |
|
Could the pitch stick on my G2 be out of calibration?
It does not track well i.e. ,wobbly pitching and takes some time for the sound to return to the played keys tone.
I have tried adjusting the bend amount to no avail.
Is there any hardware adjustments inside that could be made to correct this?
An adjustment screw perhaps? _________________ "I'm the transmitter' I give information."

The pitch stick has a mechanical vulnerability ... it works with pressure sensitive resistors glued onto a bent piece of metal, sometimes they loosen up and that means they go weird, it also means repair is needed ... I fear you ran into that _________________ Jan

I had my pitch stick replaced a couple of years ago. You could maybe get the part from Clavia and install it yourself. Only three wires to reconnect from memory. |

Sounds like the right thing to do.
There is a Clavia authorized service center in the area,
maybe I can order from them and replace it myself. _________________ "I'm the transmitter' I give information."

They're $75, and yes I'll sell one to you direct.
Call me at [866] 855-2156 after 10am EDT and provide a credit card & shipping address.
Make sure to remind me of this email and that it's a pitch stick for a G2X … they're longer than the ones for the Leads

That's good news I guess.
I had mine replaced by a serviceman back in 2005ish and was only charged 30NZD all up(=15USD in those days)
Maybe I got a good price because it was only a few months out of warranty.
Off topic, I bought an expensive (2-3K) swivel chair 5 and a half years ago. Recently, one of the arm rests developed a small split which my three year old Liam, happily picked at till he exposed the sharp metal sub structure.
I took the arm off and walked down to the store I bought the chair from to see if I could get a replacement. The shop had moved to new premises across the road. I had no proof of purchase and they had no record of me on computer but the salesman called the agent. He then offered to courier a complete new pair of arms to my address, at no cost
The arms arrived but wouldn't fit because they were for a newer model. I managed to unscrew the arm rest parts and the chair is as good as new. |

I have received some knobs that had come off my DSI Desktop evolver.
Just dropped an e-mail to Dave explaining the design flaw of the knobs being loose and falling off .
He sent me a set free of charge.
Then again;same situation with my novation xio synth.
Novation came through with some free replacements even during
NAMM show 2008!
And again from Jason for my nord lead 2X ,
when it slid from my X stand and broke off a key he came through for me with a free replacement .
I guess mechanical parts like the pitch stick assembly for the G2 are not
free but,75 dollars isn't an unreasonable price for such a part.
One thing is for sure, Clavia US has quick response for technical issues.
Once again,
thanks for your help Ian and Jan,
You gotta love electro-music.com

Replacement has arrived .
Now its time to crack open the g2x and get the iron hot .
Installation should be simple .
If any problems arise I'll be sure to consult.

Yes, there are also some screws on the bottom of the case that need to be removed, but there are many screws that do not. The instructions for installing the expansion board tell what needs to be done to properly open the case:
http://www.clavia.se/G2/V1_10/G2expansionboard.pdf
Good luck with your repair! _________________ varice |

Hello,
this is strange.
Pitch Stick weirdness started gradually on my G2X.
After a 2 months period the stick was working really bad so I ordered a couple of replacements.
They arrived quickly and I immediately replaced the faulty stick with a new one.
SURPRISE !!!
The problem is still there, even if a minimal improvement can be noticed.
Any idea of what could have happened anybody ?

Well... this is strange. I'm returning with an odd fact. Gradually, slowly, but relentlessly, my repaired pitch stick, became more and more stable until now that it's working flawlessly every-time I turn up the synth. |

nope
And maybe that's why the mic input is really dead on my G2X. I should have been more indulgent with booze. |
