Hi all,

I was thinking about how to switch between 2 LEDs from 1 PIC output pin. Do we think the circuit below would do the trick?

Pin is low - LED1 on, LED2 off

Pin is high - LED1 off, LED2 on

Apologies if this really simple and documented elsewhere! I realise I may be reinventing the wheel but it's been going round my head all morning Rolling Eyes

Cheers, Joel

If you want more than one pair you could use a hex inverter chip. Drive one LED and an inverter input from the microcontroller pin, drive the other LED from the inverters output. Maybe you don't six pairs of LEDs but maybe you have a leftover logic gate that performs inversion and can be pressed into service (a left over NOR or NAND for example).

Oh, don't forget current limiting resistors for the LEDs.
