I'm on the hunt for some TI SN76477 chips and I have a possible source for a group buy. These are the narrow body version. They are required for the Thomas Henry SN-Voice and Supercontroller PCBs.

It looks like they will cost ~US $15 ea. If you are interested in purchasing some, please drop me a line by 2008/5/9. I am only ordering 25 chips as I don't want to get stuck with money tied-up in spares - so the first ones in get their order filled. If response is overwhelming, I might be able to increase the lot size.

why bother when arcadechips sells both the wide and narrow body for the same amount?

I tried to purchase from them and PayPal says they are not able to receive payments. I went all the way through the checkout procedure several times over several days. All emails to them to buy them have gone unanswered. This was over 2 weeks' time. So I gave up.

I have received my order of these chips and I have a few extras after filling all current requests. If you want to purchase one (or more) from me at US $15.00 + shipping, drop me a line. I have a small number of wide body versions available in addition to the narrow body.

I would be interested in a couple of the wide body version on the SN76477.
How would you be paid? Paypal?
Thanks!

Tronato,

I'm not a wiz at this forum but I will see if I can find an email address for you. If you don't hear from me and you pick up this message, drop me a line at gjames@netguild.com. I still have 2 wide bodies available so you get the last ones.

If anyone else wants a narrow body chip, let me know. I only have 2 of those left also.

Are there any other useful chips from the Arcade Chips website?
Is it likely that I will ever have to buy from them again for another synth project?
Is it wise to get any extra SN chips for the future?
Are they at all likely to burn out in the next 50 years?

It is always a good idea to own a supply of discontinued components that you will either wish to use at some point, and to replace any you are currently using that might go bad, at some point!

Be aware something is up with Arcade chips. A group buy of the 76477 just happened on AH I believe because Arcade Chips paypal is no longer working.

From my experience I can say I ordered some 76477 last year (my third order with Arcade chips - first two were great). The order took months to arrive, they apologized and sent extra chips.

My friend ordered chips in November/December from Arcade Chips, they apologized and said they would send extra chips for it taking so long. He has not received his order as of yet and they will not return emails.

Thanks for that information Chris. I will remove my endorsement from my SN Voice PCB sale post.

Looks like other reliable sources will need to be located.

Thanks,
Bill

I have seen this guy on Ebay selling these chips for $18.00 with FREE shipping. They have good feedback. I have bought many items from these Hong Kong suppliers without any problems at all. This seemed the best deal I have seen for this rare chip. Can't beat the shipping price ! This is only a suggestion. I have not bought anything from this guy and my only gauge is his feedback.
