If you don't have 8.9V on pin 3 of U6, remove it from the socket and check to see if socket pin 3 has 8.9V. If it does, I suspect U6 may have problems. If you have a spare, try it out. If a spare does the same thing, then one of the CD4066s (U1 through U4) could be pulling the output down....hard. You could remove them one by one to find the bad one.
If you still do not have 8.9V on the socket pin 3, then suspect the connection between pin 3 of U7 and pin 3 of U6.
The CD4034s blowing up like that is unusual. Make sure you're well grounded. |
I measured that voltage was 8.9V on pin 3 of U6 and U7.
Anyway, the problem wasn't actually the U6, but when measuring it I noticed that R58 looks similar to the resistor next to it (which is 100ohm). So I checked and found out I had accidentally put a 100ohm instead of 2k to the R58 spot. After changing R58 to the proper value I have been now able to adjust the voltages right for all range positions!
That means tonight I can finally concentrate on actually playing it!
Thank you for all your help solving these small but remarkable mistakes. |

Far out!!!

If you work in the morning, I'd recommend against it. I can't tell you how many bleary days I've stumbled into work after the Klee had sucked the time right out of reality...
I'm glad you got it working! Don't feel bad about any mistakes (and I mean this to anyone and everyone). Electronics in general astounds me by the mere fact that usually something is made up of hundreds, if not thousands, of components and connections. All it takes is just one wrong thing to knock the thing out. When I think about that, I'm amazed anything works at all, ever. I try not to think about it when I'm flying....
Post some samples if you come across anything interesting.
Cheerios,
