Is there an easy way to record the audio from, say a noodle? Subject description: since i'm in the zone with the dumb questions today |

So I just uploaded my first G2 patch and it's not exactly a noodle, but it's sort of its own little ditty and I was kind of wanting to record it just to let my friends who don't have a Nord or the demo software have a taste of what I was doodling with today. Is there a simple way to do that with the G2? _________________ solo: http://www.myspace.com/skippyvodka

It's the same thing as for recording any external audio; connect the audio outputs of the G2 to the inputs of your sound card, start the wave editor/recorder/daw/pro tools/audacity/whatever you have for recording, start a track and hit record. _________________ Jan

Ah, I forgot to mention here that I'm playing it on the demo software so it's coming from my computer speakers. I have not yet figured out how to load a patch onto the Nord. Perhaps I should go back and figure that out first.
I'm so used to stuff like Ableton and Renoise where you just hit "export" or whatever... sorry to be so dense! _________________ solo: http://www.myspace.com/skippyvodka

You can use Jack.
http://jackaudio.org/
Or Audio HiJack.
http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/
There are others too.
With Jack you can route the audo from the application output and into your preferred recording software on the same machine.
Audio HIjack can also record. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Is that stuff like WireTap? I had that on my old laptop, even paid for it, but don't want to install it on my new laptop because I've heard that it works by basically hacking your sound card and it can mess stuff up. Do these work the same way?
Perhaps my best bet would be to actually learn to use the Nord, like I said.

Hacking the sound card? These aren´t exactly doing that. What they do is inserting a socket into the audio stream going out of the application". OS X is very suitable for just that and Linux too. Actually what these apps do isn´t exactly what I just said, but it is close. The long version is a bit longer.
In some situations these apps might cause trouble but the latest versions have very easy tools for deactivating the "jacking". _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
