MoogerFooger MF-102 switch weirdness Subject description: "my big orange cat broke my ringmod." |

Hi,
my moog ringmodulator felt down on the floor (because on my stunting cat...).
It made a short pleasant sound.
But now the main switch is "glitchy" (flip-flop between bypass and active...) ; some bounce occurs.
So I've bought another switch at Smallbear
Momentary SPST "Soft-Touch"
Rugged enough to be stomped. Normally Open, short, light stroke, with positive action.
It did not change anything.
Press Bypass, it bypasses for half a second and return in active mode.
on the third or forth try , it operates right...
So I look at the pcb :
This Bypass switch briefly connects +5v to a pin of a CD40xx.
So i've swapped it for a new one with no success.
I've also changed both 100nF capacitor lying around around this 5volts triggering (not decouplling ones)...
The whole pcb (amp, ringmod, carrier vco, mixer, vc lfo...) is full of LM13700, that's sure, but i can't figure out which IC could be wrong for bypass...for sure a semiconductor is involved here ?
this pedal sound fantastic, really.
devilish animal... |

It wasn't a scream of death, anyway...
I don't know anything about this pedal...but I'd be looking for a broken/cracked solder joint.
Hope you find it - good luck

Excellent advice. The last time I repaired something similar it took a REALLY strong magnifying glass to see the broken PC traces. I would never have been able see it with the naked eye.
Best of luck
