nl2 key split problem/banks c and d problem |
 |
|
Hello I need help with my newly purchased lead 2. I just bought it a week ago and noticed that the program banks c and d aren't working. This is really inconvenient because I really want to take advantage of the key split function. What is happening?!?!?! |

Nothing to worry about
First of all A, B, C and D are Slots, not Banks. Banks are parts of the memory, while Slots are synths. In fact you have 4 synthesizers in you NordLead.
Why don't you hear Slot C and D?
Probably the Output mode is set wrong, e.g. they are send to the physical Out jack connectors C and D at the back of the synth. Do you have these connected to you mixing desk?
You can also send C and D to the physical Outs A and B.
Press [Shift+OutMode (= knob B)] You'll see the settings of Slot A and B. If it reads [1.Ab] it means they are send stereo to physical Out A and B.
Leave it that way...
Press [OutMode] again. It probably reads [1.cd] which means the situation described above. Change this by using the Up&Down buttons (probably down) in [-.cd]. This means all settings in Ab will be copied here, so the sound will go to physical Outs A and B.

First: do you have a Manual?
You can download the Lead Manuals at http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-29446.html
almost at the end of the first page.
To split the Keyboard see Manual NordLead2 - page 14...
Select a Program in Slot A (and B)
Select a Program in Slot C (and D)
Beware Slot A (B) will be played at the lower part, mostly a bass sound, and Slot C (D) at the higher part, mostly a lead sound.
Press [KBD Split] and the routing is done.
To set the lowest note of the upper keyboard, press [Shift+KBD Split] and hit the key you want to use. Release the buttons.
BTW in the Manual is written the KBD Split LED is green, although mine is red, but I can live with that

thanks |

No, not 4 sounds from one single mono output... (Which isn't true! See below)
You can direct C and D also to A and B, as I described here above.
The NordModular can do such things easily, the Lead not.
I should do this in the mixer if it has the ability to create sub groups. (It's a possibility...)

It depends what you want, but I have the feeling you're referring to playing on stage? If you only use one channel, you can't use the Unison right. In fact, that's the only setting when the synth is real stereo
If you want to use only one line, set the Out mode to [2.Ab] and [-.cd], using only the physical Output A. All Slots will be on that cable all together, and Unison works, only not as beautiful as in stereo (BTW the same goes for Pphysical out B)
Did I wrote it wasn't possible? Silly me...
(I never use this setting when recording)

THANK YOU SO MUCH. that is what i wanted in the first place.
i bought a mixer though in case i wanted to get that beautiful mono sound from it. it was a cheap $30 mixer without an eq. i figured that is all i need to really show off this beast of a synth |
