IEXPLORE.EXE has genarated errors and will be closed by Wind |

Hello!
I have an old PC that is running Windows 2000 (specs no good for XP)
and lately it's been giving the following error when opening certain Internet pages:
IEXPLORE.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by windows.
Has anybody come upon this message before?
How can it be fixed?
Thanks!

Agh, that could be all sorts of stuff. My diagnosis is your computer is an old, useless piece of crap... ha ha just kidding I have all kinds of old computers.
possible solutions:
note: be very careful with this first one and make sure you just keep track of what you're doing...
A. Go to control panel. Click "services". Click the "startup" tab, go through the ones that say "automatic", and go through them and set all the ones that aren't necessary for system operation to "manual." While doing this, make a notepad log file of all the ones you change-make SURE you do this because you could accidently disable one that is critical to system function. But there are many you can set to manual that will speed up your computer. Restart your computer then.
B. Close out of all the unecessary programs running in the lower-right hand corner of the screen on your start bar. This is the #1 thing I do to speed up slow computers (close out of stuff like messangers, realplayer, pretty much everything except your anti-virus program.)
C. Above all, I'd reccomend just updating your internet browser or switching to a different one altogether.
Hope that helps. |

Hello!
My problem isn't so much that the computer is slow... it's that when I try to access certain websites I get the "IEXPLORER.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by Windows"
A few seconds after the internet explorer window simply closes.
I tried the same thing with Firefox as suggested and got the same message except that it said "Firefox.exe has generated errors etc, etc"
This had never happened before...
HELP!
Thanks!
