It seems that the link for the source code is dead. I'd like it if that could be fixed or if someone could send it to me.

Also, Etaoin what did you use to program the 68705?

Hi Berg,

Here's the source for you! I also have a copy of the doc for the project if you need it, as well as a bunch of PCB's for this (and the ADV-Midi) that I got from a generous swap with Mr. Henry. If you need one, let me know!

This is a great project, I have two of these in my setup, and use them all the time!

Regards,

Phil

I built the programmer that is in the 68705 datasheet. The one that copies from 2716 Roms.

Thankyou for the code philpeery!

So... any tips for a DIY eprommer and a suitable program to use?

I'm about to build a PIC programmer which also can handle a 24CXX eprom would that work?

You don't need a program to program the 68705. It actually contains bootstrap code and will program itself by copying the 2716. The best description of how it works is in the datasheet.

A PIC/24C programmer won't work. I don't think there are any other ways to program it other than having it program itself.

I've already created the hex files needed for the 2716 eproms for both the mts-100 and the adv-midi from the sources. I'll upload those as well. I also adapted the adv-midi code to use a normal hex encoder instead of the impossible-to-get grayhill-coded one.

These come without any warranty...

(but these are the files I used to burn the 2716's and from those the 68705's)

The ADV-MIDI hexcode one is for a normal hex encoder (I used one from Omron; Mouser 653-A6A-16RS). The graycode file is with the original encoding table.

Okay... so now i might be able to get my hands on an old EPROM emulator but now the MC68705 seems hard to find as it is obsolete.

Is there any big advantage with this interface over the MCV-628 described here http://m.bareille.free.fr/mcv628/mcv628.html? It seems a lot easier to put together and comes with a config software.

Cheers

No, the advantages are on the MCV-628's side. There's no real reason to build a midi-to-cv converter with the 68705 anymore, other than if you happen to have the boards and a couple of 68705 lying around.
